State of Michigan vs Krystal Davis

On August 13, 2024, Krystal Davis, owner of Card Property Management, LLC, was sentenced to 2 years' probation in 36th District Court in Detroit for operating as an unlicensed real estate agent and accountant, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Davis pled no contest in June to one count of operating as an unlicensed CPA and two counts of unlicensed real estate agent.
Davis, who operated using the business of Card Property Management, LLC, entered into a contract with the owner of two residential properties in Detroit to provide property management services, including determining rental rates, marketing the properties, selecting tenants, collecting rent, and handling evictions. Davis was not licensed in the state as a real estate broker or real estate salesperson, as would be required by law to furnish such services. Card Property Management, LLC, a limited liability company, was the assumed name of Card Enterprises, LLC, which is similarly not licensed to provide real estate services.
Davis also told another person that she was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), in the context of electronic communication soliciting business from that person to prepare their taxes. Davis was not licensed in Michigan as a CPA.
