$158 every two weeks. The contract said I have 3 days to cancel membership and be refunded. I called, emailed, texted, messaged the next day, the day after. Three different emails, three different phone numbers. I stopped in to their office to cancel and was told she couldnt help because she was busy. All I needed was the form to cancel. Finally someone emailed me and didnt address me cancelling at all. I just want to cancel membership and be refunded. Very shady way to deal with customersInitial Complaint

In February, 2021 I tried to cancel my gym membership. Multiple times I have gone into the gym to try to cancel they say the person in charge if that is not in. I have emailed my request and never get a response. They to withdraw $48.00 a month for a membership I have not used February 2021. I would just like to get this cancelled and the withdrawals stop. They just withdrew $24.00 on February 14 and will do it again on the 28.Initial Complaint

This Complaint is more with the corporate side of Anytime Fitness (also known as ************* because snake like companies hide under different names) as much as it is with the gym in Iron Mountain. I have been made aware that this gym is under new management since the original problem arose and I am told it is because of instances such as mine. In January of 2021 I signed up to join a local gym. I was interested in a 6 month membership at that time as in the summer months i wouldn't utilize to membership. I explained this to the gym representative that signed me up. With the excitement of my new membership and wanting to get working out I signed on the dotted line without reading the fine print. This is my negligence and I accept that. I called in July of 2021 when I was surprised to see money still being deducted from account. I was informed that I was stuck in a longer contract and if I cancelled it early I was subject to a hefty fee. At this time I requested my account to not auto renew. Well here we are a year later and this gym is still deducting $80 a month in 2 separate transactions of $40. Double what I signed up for in January of 2021. I have contacted the gym and they tell me there is nothing they can do. ****** Services has your typical corporate America customer service with a bunch of people who struggle to speak English. I last stepped foot in that gym Im assuming sometime around late April or early may of 2021. So Ive been paying this every month for over a year without using their services or wanting to. When I called the gym the new lady working there told me that this kind of stuff was going on and that this is why they are under new management. ************* tells me im screwed because there is no record of my phone calls asking to not renew my membership. What kind of legal action do I need to take to help me out with this?Initial Complaint

I got a membership because they were promoting memberships for $1.00 a month After I signed up my daughter and I for membership they told me it was going to be almost $150 a month PER membership, which is outrageous!! I asked to cancel both our memberships. They pushed me into freezing our memberships until May. They then charged my debit card even though I was told they wouldn't which I had to get refunded. Now they charged my debit card for a second time FOR NO REASON and I want mine and my daughter, Cali ********* memberships cancelled but nobody will call me back for me to do this. I've been calling for 4 days now. I want both our memberships cancelled and all the money I was charged given back!Business response

For 3 months I have been actively trying to cancel my member at the iron mountain mi banch ship yet I am still being charged. I have talked to multiple people and also went in to the office twice. no one was there even though the posted hours stated they should be open. I got a call from them one time and the woman apologized for not being there and refered me to another phone number. I have played phone tag multiple times. I want a refund at this point. This is insane. I started out very reasonable. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.Initial Complaint

In the winter of 2020 I decided it was time to get back in shape and to do that I wanted to find a gym a bit away from home for the reason of not knowing anybody there. At the time of signing up I was under the impression I was signing a 6 month contract that would be expiring in august of 2020. I am a small business owner who's work load slows down in the winter allowing for time to get to the gym, however I do not have time from late April on as I get busy. All of this I explained to the representative who signed me up. I was ok with be possibly having to pay for some months that I wouldn't be utilizing my membership. The only thing I didn't do was read the fine sneaky print apparently. All of this was verbal with the representative. Then August came and I hadn't been to the gym in months. My Account was automatically renewed to another year and also doubled in price. They are now taking $40 every 2 weeks for a membership I dont want and didn't even know I was getting into. At $80 a month I can have my own pretty decent gym at home in a couple years lol. I still haven't used their services in probably 7-8 months.I understand that in a state under liberal control during a pandemic probably had its effect on businesses like gyms, however making up for those losses by predatory contract schemes against it customers is absurd. I wish to have my membership completely cancelled and be back paid to the month I was assuming my contract was up.
