I cannot warn you enough against hiring Whitaker Carpentry. I hired him in Feb 2020 with a deposit with the contract stating he would provide two siding material lists so I can order my own siding and be on the schedule for early spring. He did neither. I spent from Feb until August emailing/calling/sending FB messages to get this work done. He only provided by mid summer a partial material list which by then was too late to order the siding we wanted. His replies were always several weeks after me sending multiple messages and attempts to contact him. The replies were always full of excuses. By mid/end of summer we were desperate to get siding on our new build and told him we wanted our money back so we could go another route. He refused. Spent another month hearing excuses about why he didn't think we should get our money back. I finally had to file a small claims lawsuit, which happened in November and he was ordered to pay me back by Dec 31. He hasn't. He has a judgement against him. He will say it's all COVID related issues and he's never had this problem but the pandemic doesn't: 1) Make a contractor terrible at communication. His only timely replies were when he was collecting the money and when I had to ask for it back. 2) Never bother to visit the job site with the homeowner to make sure everyone is on the same page and review all the job specifications (as asked) 3) Ask redundant questions via email that had been gone over multiple times 4) Over promise and under deliver EVERY SINGLE time he responded on timelines. 5) Not have a copy of the contract on hand. Because he claims the contract says the deposit is non refundable but it does not. He also didn't know my address. Clearly he is not managing his business well at all. If you hire him, know that your money is being used to dig himself out of a hole and you will be lucky if he has the money to buy materials or pay his crew by the time he gets to your project. I am only leaving this review in hopes of sparing someone else the amount of stress and anxiety hiring this contractor has caused me and my family. And I guarantee if they reply to this review it will be a huge list of excuses, all of which they've given for nearly a year since taking my money and not doing a single thing to earn it.
