I signed my 2 children up for karate lessons at All American Karate over a year ago, in 2/2020, and my children were only able to attend in person classes a total of about 3 times if that, before the All American Karate was forced to shut down do to covid. All American Karate then decided to do their classes online, charging another $25 per class. This is NOT what I signed up for! My children could not actively particpate in person do to the shut down, and you CANNOT learn karate ONLINE!!! This is a hands on in person school I signed my kids up for, not karate via online classes! Ridiculous! I explained this to the woman/teacher who called me to inquire about payment, thinking she would do the honorable thing, but she wasn't getting it, she only cares about money, not people all over being ******* over cause of covid and then people like her thinking they were still going to profit at other peoples expense! I was NOT going to continue to pay for classes my children could not physically attend!! This is not the contract i signed up for and All American Karate knows this! I did not sign up with a karate school, only for it to be shut down after 3 days of my children attending, then expecting me to continue to pay extra for online classes that my young children did not understand, and therefore could not attend because they did not understand what the teachers were showing them to do!!! All American Karate has not reached out to me since 3/2020 yet they reported me to a coillection agency hoping to damage my credit!! So in return, I am filing a complaint against this school, ALL AMERICAN KARATE for not following thru with what I actually signed up for, and then charging me extra for online classes that my children again could not understand cause it is karate! Something that needs to be taught IN PERSON NOT ONLINE!!! and then having the gull to report me to a credit agency, trying to screw me over more! I want everyone to know how this school conducts their business.

      Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2021/11/17) */ BBB Transcription of Mailed Response: To whom it may concern at the BBB, This letter is in response to case number ********, consumer **** ******. We are including a copy of the contract with the school for the training of her children ******* and ******** ***** and will explain her complaints are incorrect. She said we charged her an additional $25 for virtual classes when the government forced all business close in March of 2020, but that statement is false. At no point did we change the agreed upon contract. If that fee came up it would be for an insufficient funds fee from our billing company ASF international. **** paid her first two payments, one on 3/30/20 and one on 4/29/20, both of these show in our system as normal payments of $200 with no fees, the same as the contracted monthly amount. Our school opened for in person classes as soon as the government mandates lifted and we even offered **** a time credit for any missed time they were not able to train online with us. She mentioned we have not reached out to her since March of last year, but any past due programs receive several phone calls from us and a letter by mail before the contract is sent to collections. Families also have an option to end a program early for a 25% cancellation fee of the remaining balance if they choose. As none of these efforts were successful with **** the contract was passed along to a collections company to handle. I hope this information is helpful for the case. We are sorry to hear that **** is unhappy with the current situation, but we do feel we gave every effort to help her before her contract reached this point. Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2021/11/18) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I NEVER received a letter from All American Karate, all I received were 2 phone calls from a women and I explained the concerns that I had with her at the time. I was charged for assessments that my children took online thru Zoom, so no, the $25 were not from "insufficient fees" that is ridiculous! I blocked All American Karate from charging my bank account, after I decided this school was not what my children and I thought it would be. I truly regret ever signing my kids up for this strip mall karate school, and wish we had never waisted our time or the money! And again, I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THIS SCHOOL, for if I had, it would have been addressed that day as I would have called
