Auto Owners has no customer service! When I needed to file a claim I was assigned Sakai Kelly. He did his best to explain the process but it was completely wrong. Then he disappeared for the next 9 business days! No response my phone calls or emails. I had a mitigation specialist who they sent into my home asking me questions and no one at Auto Owners to help me. I’m now stuck trying to get them to approve the bids, but it takes 4-5 days for them to respond and it’s usually not a helpful response. Don’t switch to Auto Owners to save a few dollars, it will not be worth the headache if you need to file a claim.Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response

We have towing coverage on our Auto Owners policy. My husband was broken down on a country road in the middle of nowhere. He called the number provided by Auto Owners for towing. He was told to download the app and fill out his claim. Where he was the internet was spotty he could not fill out the claim. He called numerous times and was told the same thing . Finally he reached someone who would help him set up the claim. For the first hour they text him advising that they were working on it every 10 minutes He has not heard anything since. At this point he has been sitting on a country road 2 hours from home for almost 5 hours with dark approaching.Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response

Most unprofessional and rude company I Have ever dealt with. I suggest anyone looking for homeowners or car insurance Avoid this company at all cost. Mortgage broker suggested.. To find out once we were denied, he is part owner in this company. Reassuring us He will get to the bottom of it. To pretty much be told, we imagined the damage After three quotes. Just my experience, but I would steer clear at all cost.No matter how cheap it is.Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this review. The claim was reported to Auto-Owners for storm damage to a roof. Our claim representative inspected the property and has paid for wind damage and tree clean-up. Based on weather data, the last hail storm appears to have occurred prior to the policy period. We have advised the insured of our position and will reach out to discuss further.Review from John L

I currently have a home claim for water pipe damage. This has removed the use of Kitchen, living room, dining room, main entrance and formal dining room. We are waiting for financial support of restoration going on five months now. In total, they gave me $7000.00 to cover mitigation and restoration of over $42,000.00 of damage. I am considering all options at this point including quit claim with bank and moving out of state with my job. I can't afford to pay for this disaster. I have had the policy reviewed by professionals who assure me I should have more than enough coverage. I currently have auto, umbrella, and home through Auto-Owners at the recommendation of Cowarts Insurance here in **. Assistance by anyone is appreciated. We have no floor and silika dust all over, we do our dishes in the shower, and the family stress has landed one of my children in the hospital.Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response

Auto Owners has to be the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with! We lost our rental home in ** to a tornado in Dec. 2023 and have yet to be paid a single dime. We had moving expenses and temp rental expenses on top of damaged and missing items. The adjuster (who stated that he had never done a tornado claim before) stated that there was "minimal" signs of water intrusion or debris entering the home (parts of the roof were missing) Here is his exact quote "At that time, there was very little evidence of damage to any personal property in the home. Items did not appear disturbed, thrown about, or destroyed. A few windows had blown out and the blinds for those windows were damaged. The house also showed minimal signs of water intrusion or debris entering the home."I have a photo of A TREE LIMB LODGED IN AN INTERIOR WALL!! how is that "minimal?????? The house was declared a total loss by the homeowners insurance company, again, how is that minimal damage??The adjuster has literally lied to me and also tried to put words in my mouth. Totally making up stories that I have never said. Promised to pay at least a partial payment, requires all these extra pieces of documentation which I submit and then we still don't see a payment. Now they want unlimited access to a ton of personal and private records including tax records, financial records and even telephone records including call logs like what the actual *********!!!!?????? I don't understand how the I the customer has literally 0 rights when I am the one who has been paying THEM money to insure my stuff. Oh and when I asked the adjuster's supervisor why they needed access to all my personal records, her reply was, "I'm not getting into that with you". Really!? so you can request any documentation that you want because "the contract says we can" but you don't have to give me an explanation...? What a complete joke of a company. STAY AWAY FROM THEM if you value your time, money and sanity.Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response

Auto owners deducted my annual auto ins premium from my bank account. $1800+. I had mailed a check to them for the same amount. The check has cleared the bank on 7/24/24. They will not refund the duplicate payment they deducted until August 6, 2024. This is crap!!! They have $4000+ of my money, all has cleared my accounts. I am so very angry!! Insurance companies hold onto money no matter the reason. Whether it be for a claim or like this situation. I HATE dealing with insurance for any reason!!! Also. My auto ins has increased by $200+ each year for the past 3 years. Auto Owners Claims Georgias Risk rating (currently 2.0) is going up. 3-4 is considered a low risk rating. Medium is 6-8. High is 9 or above. Again, we are at the mercy of insurance. One of the richest industries out there!!! So frustrating!!!.Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response

Marketplace conditions such as inflation, the rising cost of settling claims, supply chain issues and labor shortages are causing insurance carriers to increase rates. In addition, the number of claims has steadily risen which contributes to rate increases. In order to maintain the ability to pay out on these losses which are increasing in number and severity, rate increases are warranted. Our billing department will be happy to assist with the duplicate payment and refund concerns. Please give our billing department a call so we have the opportunity to make this right. Were sorry to hear that you had a negative experience. We take our customer service very seriously. Wed like to discuss your experience in detail. Please contact us at ************** and ask for a supervisor or manager.I hope this explanation helps resolve this issue.Auto-Owners Insurance CompanyReview from William K

If you ever need to file a claim, my suggestion would be to get an attorney first as there will be a fight. I put a brand new roof on my house in November and a tornado came through our yard in February. EF2 with confirmed 150+mph winds. 30+ large trees (a few close to 90 tall) down, but luckily none hit the house. Auto Owners is denying the claim saying the damage that wasnt there before the storm is due to improper installation. They are saying that my roof is 43 sq when it is actually 57 sq. They sent someone that cant even use a tape measure. We requested that an engineer be sent which they also denied. Now that summer is here and the shingles have laid back out, it will be even more difficult to prove. My guess is that was their plan from the start in postponing inspection and dragging on the claim process. Not to be trusted. Again, get an attorney as I have done.Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response

We have had an opportunity to review the feedback from Mr. *****. It is the goal of Auto-Owners to pay all that is owed on each and every claim, and have paid for the covered damages at our insured’s home. We will be reaching out to our insured to discuss further.Review from Ellen S

We have auto owners and were hit by a person who also has auto owners. It took over a week to get ahold of anyone who could provide us with information regarding whether the claim had been filed. Once we got ahold of someone, they told us we would here from Auto Owners adjuster with in 48-72 hours. 96 hours later we still hadn't heard from anyone. Our agent finally got us in touch with the adjuster. After 3 tries he finally answer our call. When speaking to him it was clear he didn't even read the police report because he told us no air bags went off. We said you better read that report again because the airbags absolutely went off and we have the police report. Then he said well, I've never had a claim where the airbags have gone off, so I don't know what to do? Are you kidding me??? Also, he said that he spoke to us the week before which he obviously had not. Over 2 weeks to get a rental car. 2 more weeks and still no word on the status of the vehicle that was hit. We finally called again and got a different adjuster who found our claim and said the adjuster noted that he spoke to us last week and we accepted the offer because they totaled the car. Again, another lie! He never contacted us. So disgusted with their horrible service.Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response

I am experiencing age discrimination from this home owner insurance policy because of these reasons: have been insured by this company since august 2012, We.have Never filed an actual claim, but in Nov 2012, We inquired about filing a claim but pursued that mater entirely ourselves with WE Engery.and received total compensation and satisfaction. That being said: our credit rating has been 835 - 850 consistently back before 2012, our 08-29-23 premium was$746.48, the 08-29-2024 -08-29-2025 premium is $ 1,167.86, a increase of $421.38 , which equates to a 56.45% increase. Also the policy limits have only increased $ 500.00. Also there have been no new projects or improvements, routine maintenance only. With these facts stated I can only conclude age discrimination .Thank- you in advance with any assistance given, (advice)… 56.45% is horrible for all fixed income Americans, attempting to hang onto their home, again thank-you…Auto-Owners Insurance Group Response
