My mother had a reverse mortgage with Compu-link Corporation aka Celina. My mom passed away last year and when we tried to get information they told us they couldn’t give us anything because we wasn’t on the loan after my family worked to get any kind of information we could even going to the court house so much time was passed by they finally sent a letter saying we could buy back the house or live in it and pay them rent till we decide what we’re going to do. How we know what to do with no information. Well they did come back and said they give my mom over $200,000 at the time she signed now a year and seven months they say we owe them over $450,000. My parents are rolling over in their graves.Celink Response

Celink is a total nightmare. We made a full price offer on a house on February 22nd, 2023, and as of this date (September 15, 2023) STILL haven't been able to close, all because of delays and incompetence from Celink. The Celink processor is a contractor of a contractor, has a limited understanding of English, is only available via email, and doesn't seem to understand the process he's trying to administer. His messages are confusing and contradictory, when they come at all. Long periods of silence are typical. Because of Celink's incompetence, the house has been sold in a tax sale, cited by the county for being a derelict property, and has sustained continuing water damage from the leaking roof. Celink has cost the lien holder close to $10,000 in additional taxes and fees, has put the sellers family through the wringer with endless and repetitive requests for documents, and has kept a willing buyer waiting for seven+ months. There's no contact information other than the email address of the incompetent processor. No ability to escalate and get help. I'm tempted to fly to the address in Michigan to find a human to speak to, but based on the past several months I suspect its just a PO box in a strip mall! If you can, avoid Celink at all costs.Celink Response

Rev *** worked well for my parents but once they both had passed away, working with Celink / ************************** was a nightmare. Each time they were contacted for assistance we had to go through the long process of voice mails and being directed to someone else, then emailing information to them and asking for assistance and the replies would say to call. Rarely would they respond and when they did we would get different answers depending on who we spoke to. We had a buyer for the house within a month and each week I would notify them by phone and/or email giving them and update to the status. First we had to clean out 60+ years of items collected by our parents, then complete the sale of the home. I asked them if they needed any documentation regarding the contract for the sale of the home and never received a rely from them. The entire process was completed in less than 90 days, well within the time frame we were all told we had, which was a year. Celink / Finance of America said we did not provide the the necessary documentation, which I had offered on multiple occasions but did not get a response from them telling me what to send. They sent the account to collections who started the process of putting a lien on the property, which cost the estate and additional $1100.00 to clear. I filed complaints and their response was to flood me with copies of documents and paperwork I already had, multiple times. The first person I spoke to when I called to notify them of my mothers death had the nerve to laugh when I told her my mother had died. They don't care and will not assist you. Their customer service is terrible. DO YOUSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT DO BUSINESS IN ANY FASHION WITH THIS COMPANY !!!!!Review from Vicki O

We applied for a reverse mortgage in 2007 with Financial Freedom and because I was not sixty two I had to sign of the deed. We were assured I could be added to the paperwork when I turned the required age, that was not true My husband passed away in November 2021, I then notified Celink.and I immediately received a notice of forclosure or pay off the loan. I did some research and found that loans made before 2012 were subject to eviction. But then..with a little more digging I found that the law changed for the non borrower. Well, I received another letter this time they wanted to know my intent, move, sale, pay off the loan or foreclosure. I then placed a call to them and told them I wanted to let them know my intent..so the girl asked me what was my choice? I replied none of the choices you gave me, the line was quiet, I then told her I planned on staying since I found the law that protected the non borrowing spouse. She then spatted off all the requirements. I was put on hold for about twenty minutes and then she came back and said paperwork would be in the mail. They should have told me about the law, rather than trying to get me out. Now they sent me a new contract so I am having a attorney view it before I sign. They are not trustworthy and the notice on the bottom of their communications says they are debt collectors. They have also added a monthly insurance premium which is nothing but a way to pad the bill because I have insurance, the attorney will address that issue too. . They constantly ask me for paperwork that I sent not once but twice, how do they keep misplacing paperwork, no I believe it is intentional, maybe hoping the next time I won't send it and then they can find me in default. I figured out they send a prepaid envelope so we use it, and that's is the plan, no way of proving it was sent. Now I will send all my paperwork with signature required. They should not even be in bussiness, rating, minus minus minusCelink Response

Rip-off artists! Do NOT get a reverse mortgage with them! My dad had a reverse mortgage with this company. He died at the end of April. We immediately got a letter saying "so sorry for your loss and by the way you are now in arrears on your loan so we're starting foreclosure proceedings." Our probate attorney contacted them and sent them all the paperwork they asked for to prove that we were moving ahead with selling the house. We DID sell the house and closed in the middle of October, ahead of the six-months' moratorium on foreclosing. But Celink's intermediary, Finance of America Reverse, REFUSED to take the payoff, claiming the wire transfer in the amount THEY ASKED FOR by fax the same day was nearly $4000 short. Meanwhile, the new owners are in the house and came home yesterday to a five-page letter, not in an envelope, taped with blue tape to the door, threatening foreclosure on the house, which was apparently set in motion a month ago. My attorney and the escrow agent assure me this is all a big scam to get more money out of us before the cash cow dies; the escrow agent even said "this company is THE WORST." Stay away!
