On 7/1/2022 the Michigan Attorney General’s Office reached an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance with the operators of Quality Properties of Mackinaw d/b/a The Beach House Hotel, Queen’s Properties Inc d/b/a Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront, Enjo Properties LLC d/b/a Crown Choice Inn & Suites and Lieghio’s Hamilton Inn Select d/b/a Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront. All are operated by Joe Lieghio. In February of 2022, the AG’s Office issued a Notice of Intended Action claiming the company was advertising and booking hotel rooms at hotels that were ultimately not open to consumers. The NIA states consumers were not told ahead of time that their accommodations are being changed. Complaints allege consumers were moved to other hotels that didn’t provide the same amenities, and the company refused to offer refunds in these cases. The AG’s Office claims the practices violated the terms of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, but has since come to an amicable outcome to avoid action by the Department.
