4/2023 ************ came to our home to provide an estimate to have exterior shake siding on the front of home painted. We also requested to have all ************** on windows & around front door painted. He provided us with an estimate of roughly $7,900. Estimate included power washing whole house, labor, & all paint/supplies. We accepted the ************* put us on the books for end of May. 5/28, he emailed to let us know they would be starting 5/31. ******************* came on 5/31 walked around house to go over job, then informed us that he grossly underestimated the ******** was going to be $15,000-$20,000. He offered two options for resolving this. 1) I can send you another quote for $15,000 to complete the work as discussed or 2) I will pay for your house pressure washing, replace your dryer vent & give you your paint all at no cost to you. We were agreeable to solution 2, & reached out to the other company we originally received a quote from & asked them to give us a new quote excluding paint & power washing. They provided a new ************* booked with them. On 6/2 ************ dropped the paint off & we discovered that he did not provide enough paint to do the job AND 3 of the gallons were the wrong color. We brought this to his ************** proceeded to tell us that by changing color we altered the project & voided estimate, changing colors like this would require a reassessment of the project. However, we informed him the day he came to do the estimate that we were awaiting approval from our HOA on the colors. He said to let him know when we had approval. We informed on 4/18 of our colors, to which he responded "I will make a note in your file" He never said a reassessment would needed. On 5/31 when reviewing the job with us, we confirmed the colors with him again. Due to not providing the correct amount of paint/wrong ****** ****************** unwillingness to rectify that, we incurred an additional $1200 with the new painter.
