I am trying to help my daughter get information for her taxes and cannot reach a rep. to ask what options she has to get this information. I was on hold for *********************************************************************** Then I called a number in Kalamazaoo MI and after being on hold for almost 10 minutes I left a voicemail for them to call me back. The local Amerifirst office closed in ******** ** and the person she talked to when she first signed for her mortgage retired. The bank I used for our mortgage is very responsive. This bank does not have enough people to answer the calls and answer general information questions.

Amerifirst started out great, we had a really nice rep ************** Who handled everything accordingly, our main concern was our mortgage gonna be sold to other companies in the future and ***** looked at me and said absolutely not. 2yrs later our mortgage has changed hands and ***** says that's normal, he lied to my face. Had I known this would happen I would have signed with a different company.

******************** This is that absolute worst financial company I have dealt with in my 60 years. We had a preapproved loan to build the house, two weeks before closing we on conference call I ask agent what has changed? He starts to tell me it is all about income and I start asking him some questions and he tells me did i not read all documents. He became very rude, rise his voice as I was trying to find and answer to a question and just hung up on me.

We have a current mortgage with this company and are heavily invested in leaving. They required an escrow for taxes and insurance when we took the loan. They have errored on their calculations repeatedly so we've paid too much in and had to wait a year to get our funds back. They are consistently late with insurance payments though they take the funds from your account two months in advance of payment. We spent a day and half of our summer vacation trying to get our homeowners insurance reinstated after they failed to pay on time, though they had our funds well in advance. They pulled my tax payment on 7/1/2022 and kept insisting, even in a letter, that my taxes were paid. They were not. They still are not. So in order to sell, refinance, or take out a heloc if repairs are needed, I would have to pay my taxes up front again and then fight with Amerifirst to get my payment back. Maybe by Christmas if I'm lucky. Their poor customer service reps have to put up with angry customers due to their crappy practices. They only now offered to take the escrow off but I'm definitely out. They have not even cut the check for my tax payment. Where is that money being held? ********************* the same township have their money with mine. What scheme is being played out? It should be illegal to hold funds for more than two months and only pay at the due date to prevent 'lost payments'. Only it cost me several days of no home insurance this year.Awful practices. Go through your local credit union. And ask about their escrow payments. My credit unions have always paid immediately once the funds were pulled.

Do your seller a favor and avoid this lender at all costs. The buyer picked this horrid company on June 14th 2022. We agreed to close August 1st 2022. Closing date rolls around and this Lender failed to do any closing tasks. We stupidly extended the contract several times. I'd complete the required repairs and then they would add more stuff that needed to be done until finally they wanted me to pay 35k to fix some wall in the basement. The house I was selling was supposed to be an as is sale. I ended up spending 6k on repairs just to try and get this house sold. They prolonged the closing so long that the buyer ended up backing out. So now I am on the line for the repairs and they delayed the closing so long, they caused us to lose the house we put an offer on (July 26th thinking since it was a week before closing, we'd be safe.) So now we are out the money spent towards that property.

I signed a purchase contract on my home with a buyer who presented a pre-approval letter for almost half million dollars from ***** of AmeriFirst. I truly believed that it was legitimate and a loan for my buyer would be forthcoming. TWO DAYS prior to our scheduled closing, ***** informed my agent that his buyer did not qualify for a loan. He had obviously authorized a pre-approval letter without any investigation of his client's finances. However, he asked me to sign another contract with a third party, ****** Company, who would purchase my home and rent back to the unqualified buyers. This new contract was never an option because it had contingencies for another appraisal, repairs and a delayed closing date. Also, I needed the funds from my home sale in order to close on another home 2 days later. If I were not able to close on the other home, I stood to lose thousands and thousands of dollars non refundable in due diligence. I believe that ***** had to know of his client's inability to qualify for a loan several weeks before I was informed of this situation. ***** had time to put together another deal with a third party but chose to wait in what I feel was an attempt to force me to sign a desperate last minute contract to sell my home.I wasted one month of my time in a futile attempt to sell my home to an unqualified buyer and this prevented other potential buyers from viewing or making offers on my home. I received no compensation for this delay/cancellation but accrued costs. I believe ******* phony letter of pre-approval was self-serving, deliberate, and showed a blatant disregard for how his actions could potentially undermine my plans. If you plan to sell your home please check the validity of a pre-approval letter for your buyer from AmeriFirst. They employ agents who will deceptively provide pre-approval on a mortgage loan for anyone and for any amount. I would rate them zero stars but that was not given as a choice. *******************

They really need to update their requirements because truth be told the only people that turned out to be a risk and foreclosed on their homes are the ones who met the “requirements “ to begin with right? It’s 2022 for god sake people are paying double or triple to stay in someone else’s home especially when lenders aren’t giving people like me a single parent who is always having to sacrifice for their children and working the hardest a chance over petty old fashioned requirements. I’m about to lose money that I can’t get back from a house I deserved .. and I’m so heart broken the seller has had to wait so long that they are about to put the house back on the market and my $3400+ a month and cash to close is not enough for a $800 a month mortgage . Because I’m not working 40 hours a week but no less than 30..so you have to be a parent and a full time slave to corporate America to get a loan through these people.. I’ve lost my soul and happiness.. currently at my second job staring into space… with no determination left in me. Im not even good enough to own a home, paying $600+ Living in some crappy housing projects. And I can’t even give my kids better. It makes you feel worthless.

Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns you experienced when applying for a mortgage with us. The customer experience is our number one priority at Amerifirst Home Mortgage. As a local, independent lender, we work hard to build meaningful relationships with our customers. We apologize for the lack of communication you received during the application process. The appraisal fee of $525.00 was refunded to you on February 11, 2022.

Worst company I have ever encountered to refi a mortgage! Communication is the absolute worst I have ever seen! It only took 10 emails to finally get a response back. Then it's I need this and that! Then they said we needed to get our attorney to complete something after contacting our attorney multiple times the mortgage company finally says they were wrong and it didn't need to be done. Well that was after about almost $1000 in attorney fees. When we tried to tell them that wasn't needed. Ronnie Giberson is the absolute worst person to try and help. To be someone in business for "40+ years" that's hard to believe with all of the inconsistencies in the process. I will say we will not use this mortgage company ever again and I would not recommend this company to anyone.

      02/16/2022

Thank you for the opportunity to address the concerns you experienced when applying for a mortgage with us. The customer experience is our number one priority at Amerifirst Home Mortgage. As a local, independent lender, we work hard to build meaningful relationships with our customers. After a thorough review of your application, it was discovered that the property was in an estate when the application opened, and we were told by the applicants that neither applicant was currently on title. Amerifirst explained that one party must be on title for our company to extend a mortgage loan offer. The estate attorney costs and fees to obtain title, referenced in the review, were not something that our company would have control over. When title was pulled, it was discovered that one of the applicants was already on title to the property. The application process moved forward when this was confirmed. There are several stipulations that must be met before we are able to continue with the review of your application. We would be happy to assist you in moving this process forward.
