    Pattern of Complaint:
In May 2019, BBB investigated Great Expressions Dental Centers’ business practices. This investigation was prompted by a pattern of complaints, surrounding billing and customer service issues. BBB attempted to reach out to the company via certified mail, telephone and email. After multiple requests to the business for further information on noted issues, BBB received response acknowledging receipt of our concerns, but the business failed to respond to questions to potentially eliminate underlying issues with consumers. This business has also indicated that it will not work to resolve customer disputes through BBB. Consumers with outstanding concerns are still encouraged to file a complaint for BBB records, but may also wish to contact legal counsel and/or MI Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division at: www.michigan.gov/ag.

Going through BBB is sadly the ONLY way to reach someone at Great Expressions because it's **** near impossible to reach anyone at The ******* ** location on ************** Road or anyone calling the customer service. This is ridiculous that I cannot reach anyone over the phone and this issue needs to be addressed with the location because it's POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I need someone in the billing department to reach out to me IMMEDIATELY .I was told by my location that I would not be charged for flouride and my insurance just advised me that they will not cover it. I need for Great Expressions to remove this from my bill and not charge me.

10 /21, I started doing business with Great Expressions, this was for dentures and extractions, I was quoted a price, and I have dental insurance, my part of the price $975.00 which I paid in April 2022. my company changed dental insurance carriers in January 2023. my dentures were made in Feb 2023 They are now finished, but Great Expressions will not give them to me because they say my insurance has paid nothing, although I have paperwork from the insurance companies telling what they paid.

This company drilled down to the nerve, filled the cavity, and then tells me I need to pay them to reverse it and get a root canal. That is unprofessional and unjust. If I could give this company a lesser rating, I would. I have had multiple negative visits but this last one was TERRIBLE. My 14 year old daughter had a cavity filled in tooth #** a couple of months ago. The charge was $150. Two weeks later she was experiencing stabbing pains and she couldn't sleep. We went to the office so that they could see what the problem was. They call her back to be treated, file the tooth, and send her out. It was a 15 minute visit. Again, weeks later she wakes up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain. The next day I walked into the office and told them about the experience. They acted so cold and not empathetic at all. They scheduled her for the next day.At this visit, they x-rayed her tooth and determined that the dentist had drilled to the nerve and filled it. The filling is touching her nerve!!!! The front desk lady wrote of a quote for the crown. Aside from insurance, I would have to pay ANOTHER $250 and that doesn't include the cost of the root canal with some 3rd party endodontist. To make themselves look even more unprofessional, on the referral for the endodontist, they circled the wrong tooth. That says EVERYTHING about how they operate. How does a dentist s**** up and then try to charge the customer for them to fix it?!I called the corporate office and left a message and no one has returned my phone call! Still, my daughter is in so much pain. This company's policies and treatment of paying customers is a joke.Other horror stories, they told me my son had 7 cavities that needed to be filled. When he went to his dads, they took him to their dentist who said "There are NO cavities!" I had an absessed tooth and needed an emergency root canal. There weren't any appointments available for 3 months. I had to suffer for days until the antibiotic kicked in.

Good morning , My name is *******************************. I am a patient at your ***************** 7 months ago I went to BS office to consul of my is***s with my teeth. At that time I was trying to find a solution to the problem. I was talked into and told that I should have Dentures. My teeth were loose and sore in some from severe Diabetes. So I agreed to have it done. So at that time **** said dont worry that your insurance company will pay which they did. I was elated as I dont have the money for them being on permanent disability. So in December 2022.I went to get the molds done etc. then 12/22/22. Got the dentures I was worried about being able to eat on Christmas Eve as my entire family was going to be there Cost me a lot of savings to get the Eve done nice which was huge expense of which I had to save for quite some time knowing that *** was at my home and was told ABSOLUTELY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO EAT. NO PROBLEM So I went ahead and got them. It turned They were so horrible and barely fit in my mouth it was terrible. I had to go many times to get them adjusted to no avail First the dentist that did it in beginning had absolutely no clue to what he was doing apparently. In my opinion. My lower partial that was made didnt fit so badly that when he kept pushing it to have it go in place it hurt like nothing else. I actually had to stop him when it cut my mouth and was bleeding from the gums where he was pushing so violently to get them in. So that didnt work. Now he puts the full set in for the uppers that where this whole thing started. That made me 1st of all look like a freak a horse to say the least. I actually have the 1st pair and can show you what they did. They fit so badly that I barley was able to close my mouth. So I was so upset. When they saw the way they were they knew I had to get new one and automatically said you NEED NEW ONES. this is what they told ME. I agreed of course Now its the *** and I couldnt eat one thing. The pain and the fit were so bad that I could eat anything. Nothing and still can barely eat now 7 months later. I was hurt and most of all embarrassed about this entire situation. I was completely shocked and disgusted. So they called the person who makes them some guy in farmingdale and had to shoot right there to HAVE THEM ADJUSTED. The way they fit was so bad he took another mold right there as I stood there in the factory. standing the entire timewhich was hard enough as i am an amputee from the diabetes so while he went back and forth to the back warehouse to do his grinding etc was told to wait in warehouse standing not sitting and tried to adjust it yet again for almost 2 hrs. It was only very little change and barely difference He said and I am quoting him. THEY TOOK THE IMPRESSIONS WRONG. So I had no choice. So when I went back in to take yet another mold I told them what he said. At that time **** apparently called him to complain ask why he would say that and got apparently quite mad. So **** brings the phone to me while I was in the chair and he was on it. I was yelled at and belittled and was yelling I never said that as well as other things He did say that while he was trying to adjust them in the warehouse. I understand why he tried to take the comment out of the picture so he wouldnt loose the account. I was very upset and thought it was such disgusting display of non professionalism. So I had an argument over the phone. How does an office manager do what she did. Like she called him to tell on me. So after a completely horrible Christmas experience with my grand children and family being embarrassed I was told when I called I had to come to the office and they will take another impression. However I only would come back to do it if I can have another dentist (which they gave me a difficult time). At that time the new dentist. So I was also told by the Oral surgeon who also looked at them that they were a terrible job. Then was told along with her assistant to come to there regular office to have it done ( in commack I believe) I was integrated by a few people in bay shore office as to who gave me the phone number and address and who it was. They apparently got a call from the other office. They then told not explained to me I had no choice but to stay in that office with an extremely condescending and demanding attitude. So after a few times of the new dentist trying to ADJUST THEM and still woth the new bottoms bleeding was told I needed to get a new dentures. I was mad upset and cant understand how they could act this way. So when he told me I needed new ones however had to pay for them, I told them that the office manager told me that they had to replace them at here cost. So now its Christmas eve and I couldnt eat a thing nothing and remember they said no problem you will be fine to eat The pain and fit were so bad that I was bleeding. I spent a an extreme amount on this dinner as it was at my house and was embarrassed and hurt and disgusted. Christmas comes and goes and now I complained so many times that they said to come in for those impressions I mentioned earlier. So now its 7 months later and I still cant chew. I was told by the dentist that thats all he can do. I from the beginning wanted implants and the reason I got a medical letter for my doctor explaining that it was detrimental to my health and needed the implants. to be able to chew. So they said do the dentures first because my gums had to heal anyway and it took at least 3 months. I now make an appointment to go talk to the oral surgeon about the implants however they walked in and gave me a referral to go to CLEARCHOICE that they would be able to help me. I then asked if they took my insurance and was told that they did. After 6 weeks wait to talk to the oral surgeon and they walked in with that referral. I cant believe that they just got rid of me and was my only option. My stomach is so bad right now from not being able to eat at all or chew anything that I am sick. I want to talk to someone about this. I am so upset that I cry at times when I take the grandkids out to pizza and cant eat a thing. I havent eaten in front of anyone since all this started. I am getting sicker by the day and was passed off like a piece of garbage. They figured that I would be someone elses problem. I made an appointment and thats when I was told the dont take insurance. There is so much more that I will be writing a complaint and will go to hire an attorney to *** them for malpractice. I look like an old man with no teeth and am embarrassed completely when from day one I wanted the implants and they talked me out of it. Also now my insurance will not cover the implants because I got the dentures through insurance. I dont know what to do please help me. Please. This is detrimental to my health and am loosing time. Please contact me in anyway to discuss this.Thank you ******************************* ************ ******************

On June 9, I had visited **************** ****** regarding an issue I was experiencing with one of my teeth. During the visit, Dr. ****** provided me with a follow-up appointment for the following week. Furthermore, she obtained my consent to perform a tooth filling for the specific tooth that I sought treatment for initially. To my surprise, Dr. ****** proceeded to fill additional teeth that I had not mentioned or had any problems with, aside from the specific tooth that initially prompted my visit. This revelation left me feeling upset and frustrated due to the lack of prior communication regarding this important aspect of the treatment plan.Regrettably, my emotions got the better of me, and I expressed my discontent to Dr. ******* In response, she requested that I leave her office, and she proceeded to involve the authorities by calling the police. Consequently, I was informed that I would no longer be permitted to enter the premises. In an effort to obtain the necessary documentation related to my visit, I approached the police officer ******* at the time and requested assistance in obtaining my medical report for that day. However, despite my efforts, Dr. ****** declined to provide the requested information. Subsequently, I attempted to contact the office via phone and email to follow up on my request, but my attempts to communicate were ignored.I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this matter and obtaining the required medical documentation from ***********************'s office. Thank you for your attention to this issue.

I had a crown put on a tooth a few years ago. The crown came off while I flossed. Crowns are permanent and should not come off. The dental practice wants to charge me for cementing the crown back on. They also want to charge my insurance company. I believe they should correct this issue at no charge.

In April 2023, my husband had 2 dental procedures done. He paid for each procedure and the office told him that was his ** pay. In total, he paid $775.00. When we received one explanation of benefits from his se**ndary insurance (mine), the balance that was to be pbaid by the patient was only $122.00. The office never even submitted the se**nd procedure, and they claimed that they did not have his primary/first insurance. No one at the office can help me, and for over a week now, I am told every day that the office manager will call me back. Every time I call for her, she is in 'meetings all day'. I think that there is some kind of fraud going on here, and I don't know how to get it **rrected.
