Alert

On November 18, 2020, BBB Serving Eastern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula began investigating Redcliffe Medical Devices and DBA Leaf Wellness, LLC after receiving complaints from consumers that had not received masks ordered months prior.

BBB learned from complaints that LEAF masks were advertised for sale on the business owner’s website with an icon linked directly to Indiegogo, a crowdfunding site, to finalize payment for the purchase of goods. The campaign raised over $4.2 million from 25,792 backers.

BBB received complaints from Indiegogo campaign backers and consumers alleging the company began selling masks directly via their website in the fall of 2020 even though the backers had not yet received the product purchased. Based on complaints, consumers attempted to contact the business after several months of waiting for their orders. The few consumers who did receive products allege the quality was not the same as advertised online. At least one consumer reported receiving an empty box. Complaints were filed when the business failed to respond to the consumer's phone calls and emails.

According to Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Redcliffe Medical Devices is registered to Lalit Verma, who also owns RSS Systems Inc. When visiting the location on file for Redcliffe Medical Devices, 3000 Town center, Suite 1550, Southfield, MI, the name of an engineering firm, F&L Engineering and Consulting Inc. was listed as the resident of the suite.

As part of BBB’s investigative process, the business’s website was also reviewed. BBB subsequently requested substantiation of several advertising claims. You can read details about BBB’s Ad Review in this business profile.

To date, Redcliffe Medical Devices, DBA Leaf Wellness, or Lalit Verma has failed to respond to complaints or substantiate advertising claims. BBB Serving Eastern Michigan will amend the business profile should we receive a response from the business.
