I moved into my apartment in 2019. When ********** assumed ownership in 2020 everything went downhill. I lived with a broken refrigerator for 2 years in their townhomes. Upon signing my first lease renewal they advised they would make my requested repairs and replace my refrigerator with a new one. This NEVER happened. The year lapses and we are approaching the renewal period again with no notice of the terms of the new lease. Its not until I call the office (numerous times) to speak with someone that I am told of a $200+ increase in my rent for the upcoming renewal that takes place 2 weeks from the date of that call. At that point in faced with the leasing managers (at the time) nasty disposition and her response to my concerns at that point is I mean you can move. If youre worried about the fees or penalties upon moving on such short notice we can take care of that for you.Knowing that financially I could not be out of the unit and into a new place in under 2 weeks I was bullied into resigning. However, I was yet again told that all of the issues with my unit would be addressed. I sent an email with EVERYTHING that needed to be repaired, replaced and attended to. After all of this did I get a new fridge? No. Did they properly seal the entrance ways into my unit so that my home wasnt exposed to the outdoor element? NOPE. Did they express concern when my unit lost heat and temps dropped down below 50 degrees in the dead of winter?? NOT AT ALL. So I did what anyone placed in this predicament should do as soon as they have the chance, I PURCHASED a home and ended my lease. I did all of this THE RIGHT WAYgave my 60 day notice and began the process of paying what I thought was my termination fee for breaking the lease. I even tried her again to contact the leasing manager to get clear guidelines on how they wanted this processs to be handled so there were no last minute surprises financially on my end as I now have more important financial obligations to tend to. Not to mention the hundreds of thousands of dollars Ive already lost out on due to groceries being thrown out weekly due to a fridge not keeping proper temperature. Lets not forget the increase in my DTE and Electric bill for having to run space heaters on all floors in the dead of winter with the heat on just to keep my unit at a livable temperature while gushes of cold air blow in my front and back doorsand the fans I had to run non stop in the summer due to the central air not working properly in the unit during the hot summer days. I was never billed upon moving out, I never received notice that I owed anything despite asking IN PERSON upon signing papers to return my keys the day of moving out. Not even ******************************************************************************************** what I told the leasing office I would not pay. Now, I KNOW there is no way you can decline payment of something that youve NEVER been charged for and there is no way you can place an account in collections without attempting to make notice of a debt owed in the first place. Yet Im being called back to back to back to BACK by this collections agency. Not being properly billed for charges that are being held against me. And all of this is after all of MY EFFORTS to get with them to confirm that all debts have been handled PRIOR to me moving and even weeks after.
