** September 2022, I signed a contract with ***********************/**** Construction to do construction work on my home because he convinced me that he was an expert in his field, having overseen roofing jobs and other construction work for ***** years. By October, when he had not begun the work on my home yet, I started to worry that the work would not be done before winter weather set in. He assured me winter would make no difference-that all contractors have ways of installing windows and doors in the winter months, using tarps and torpedo-style heaters. Except for digging a ditch behind my house that sat all winter and is still there, he has done no work on my house. He also convinced me, through coercive tactics, to pay him all of the money he was going to need for the job, up front. I had written a down payment of $8,675 to him on September 5, 2022. Then on Oct 11th, I paid him $4337.50. On November 2, though I was quite anxious at that point because I had paid 3/4 of the cost of the total construction estimate and not had any work done, I paid him another payment of $4337.50 as a final payment. I was very nervous about all these payments having been paid, but he promised me continually he was going to do the work and his intensity and irritability intimidated me. I decided to look him up online and found that there has been there have been residential building contractor enforcement actions against him. (March 15, 2022). Also, he was issued a cease and desist order from doing any business in the ********************* in 2015 by the Attorney General. Because of these new findings and the fact that I am a single mother with daughters at home, I am completely uncomfortable having him on my property again, let alone doing any work for me. I want my money back in full ($17,350) plus interest, considering I had to take out a loan for this money at 7% interest. He is working out of ****************-NOT ************.
