I am writing to file a formal complaint against Rum River Auto concerning deceptive trade practices and misrepresentation in a recent vehicle purchase. Despite being aware of *********** Lemon Law limitations due to the vehicle's mileage, I believe the severity of the issues encountered necessitates action.In summary, six months ago, I purchased a truck from Rum River Auto under misleading circumstances. The sale price, initially advertised at $7,999, was abruptly increased to $10,000 at signing, allegedly for an extended warranty that turned out to be non-existent. Major Engine Failure: Significant engine problems, including a Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) issue, surfaced shortly after purchase, even when replaced, problems persisted. Low Oil Pressure: Detected during a post-purchase dealer inspection. Non-Functional 4x4 System: The truck's 4x4 system is completely inoperative. Electrical System Fault: Operational failure due to a melted fuse requiring rewiring. This recent issue as of 11/26/23, has left the vehicle stranded. Had to be towed to a shop.This practice, alongside the lack of proper vehicle vetting and pricing criteria, raises serious concerns about their ethical and professional responsibilities.The objective of my complaint is to seek a resolution involving the return of the vehicle and cancellation of the remaining loan, discounting the remaining loan to $4,500 given the misrepresented condition and deceptive practices involved, and the money already invested, or replacing the truck with an equal or higher value.Your attention to securing a fair and just resolution in this matter would be greatly appreciated.Sincerely,Business response

We try to check all used vehicles thoroughly, All vehicles on our lot are sold as is. No warranties are forced upon customers. ******* was given the opportunity to accept or decline the warranty option. All customers are allowed to have a mechanic of their choice check out any vehicle they might be interested in. Especially because almost all of our inventory is over ******* in mileage. We do not have crystal ***** we can not predict what will happen with these used vehicles, that's why we urge all customers to have the vehicle checked out by THEIR personal mechanic. The warranty company is reputable and is more than willing to pay for covered items listed on the warranty paperwork.
In conclusion, we are fair and respected in our community and in this situation our hands are tied.
