I took my car to this mechanic to have the ball joint replaced and to fix anything else that was wrong with the vehicle. This mechanic was paid $1,653.43 to do all repairs to my car which included replacing the power steering shaft...although I wasn't having issues with nor ever had issues with my power steering. I received the car back and right away I had issues. The wheel alignment was way off and the power steering makes clicking and rattling noises. I brought the car back to Sage Auto and they wanted an additional $541.74 to fix the power steering which they damaged. Ultimately Sage Auto said they couldn't fix it and sent me on my way. After spending $1,653.43 to repair my car, it is worse now than before I took it to this mechanic. My car makes so much noise when I drive, I'm afraid to take it anywhere for fear it will break down.

First, and foremost, I feel bad that Jeff feels as though we did something wrong.

Jeff is correct that he originally brought his vehicle under the premise that we fix anything which we saw wrong with the vehicle. His vehicle came in and was completed  on 10-1-21. Jeff contacted me on 12-17-21 (ten weeks after the original work was completed) and made me aware that there was a problem with his vehicle. We had Jeff come back in (12-22-21) and inspected his vehicle. We emailed an estimate to Jeff for replacement of his steering coupler on 01-05-22. Jeff brought his vehicle in and we installed a coupler on 01-13-22. The new part which we installed was worse/noisier than the one we took out. This part was an original equipment part from the dealership. At this point I made Jeff aware that he should go back to the dealer for replacement because they have better availability for parts if the next one is defective as well. I charged Jeff $0.00 for our work that day because the desired outcome was not reached. His bill would've been $541.74, and again, I charged him nothing.

The thought that I should "reimburse" him $541.74 for repairs his vehicle still needs,  when I charged him $0.00, is inherently wrong.
I wish the best for Jeff, but will not be refunding him.

When I brought my car to Sage Auto for repair, there were no issues with the power steering. Sage Auto decided there was an issue and replaced a part. Ever since they replaced the part, I've had issues with the power steering. I took my car to Sage Auto for repairs, and was given a car back that is in worse shape than before I brought it to Sage Auto. When I called to make the initial appointment, I was told over the phone that the wheel alignment would be taken care of as part of the repair process. When I picked up the car I realized that the wheel alignment hadn't been fixed and was actually worse. That's when I also noticed a louder thud/rattle then when I brought the car in. Clearly, Sage Auto never took the car for a rest drive after the repairs because they would have immediately realized that the wheel alignment wasn't done and that there was a noise/clicking sound involving the power steering. I had a grant for $2,400 for auto repairs that had to be used all at once or I'd lose the remaining funds...which Sage Auto was fully aware of. That is why I asked that everything be fixed that was wrong when I made the initial appointment. Instead, Sage Auto repaired some of issues, but created more and submitted a bill that was pair for approximately $1,600. Later, when I realized that the wheel alignment was off and the power steering was messed up, Sage Auto wanted to charge me $90 for a wheel alignment. They also gave me an estimate of approx. $560 to fix the steering wheel problem they created. Had Sage Auto fixed everything at once like they said they would, I wouldn't have lost $800 of my grant and the $560 to fix the remaining issues would have been covered. I expected Sage Auto to respond with denials since that's all I received the entire time I dealt with them. They replaced a part in my power steering that didn't fit right, then put back the old part and said there was nothing else they could do and that I should go to Kia to get it fixed.
