I was contacted by an agent claiming that I owe a debt to anytime fitness which I do not. I explained to them that I cancelled my membership with the gym because I felt it wasn't a good fit for **** dropped the cancellation letter off in the drop box as instructed by anytime fitness because I only had till Dec. 25 2023 to cancel and they were closed the 24 th and 25th for the holiday. The agent became aggressive and treating when I stated I was not paying. She said I needed proof or needed to hand it to a person. I again explained they were closed and this is what I was directed to do to meet the deadline for cancellation and I'm not paying what I don't owe . And I have proof. She then said I was f*":: paying or she would just take it and as I was speaking hung up in me...This is completely unacceptable I for one don't owe a debt and have proof and two you can't threaten people it's unprofessional and illegal.Business response

Your Anytime Fitness contact - was never canceled, we had asked you several time for proof that the Club received your commination. You stated you dropped it at the club when no one was around. That is not proof that anyone ever received this. You have been contact for the last 90 days from Anytime Fitness attempting to get this settled with you. You gave them no response, that is why your account is at a collection agency. If you have proof showing that someone signed for your letter we would like to see this. Also all of our calls are recorded and guaranteed no one swore at you.

I received an email from this bill collector seeking payment within a certain time frame or a threat of further action if I did not comply. I would like to point out that I have not received any prior notice or information from this company regarding past-due payments from their client. This sort of behavior is extremely unprofessional and unethical.Business response

You, made contact with our office today in reference to the email you received. Your questions about you email, you were looking for verification of your debt, which we gave you, and you agreed with our discussion. In the email there is not threat of anything taking place (ACTION MAY BE BROUGHT AGAINST YOU WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE ) this is what it said. It is your interpretation of the statement that a threat was made. We have sent many emails and letter, you stated that you would not have received them due to moving 2-3 times since then. So, yes we did attempt to contact you.
