On 03/04/2022, I had purchased a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee from House of Cars Llc, from ***********************. I was never in possession of the vehicle because the dealership was still fixing it . On 03/08/2022, I told my lender that at this point I no longer want to move forward with my application. Due to me still not being in possession of the car, and the poor customer service I was receiving. I also reached out to *********************** to speak to his manager and he refused to give me any information on the owner. I also asked the lender how I would go about receiving my down payment back and they told me to reach out to the dealership. On 3/12/2022 I went up to House of Cars to get information on the cancellation and the refund of my down payment and the employee there told me to come back on Monday to speak with ***********************, and also made it to my awareness that ***** is actually the Owner. At that time I also filed a police report, because me and the employee both agreed to call the police. On monday, I headed to the dealership, to speak with ***********************. I also called the same police officer that filed the first report to meet me at the business. I got there, and the doors were locked, and no one was answering the door. Even though, they were open, I called the business and *** answered, the financial rep. and informed me that they were closed and would be open tomorrow. I asked her why and she didnt give me an answer as to why. I called the dealership and Davids personal number and neither answered. I eventually got ahold of *****, I asked him to come up to his dealership so we could talk about my down payment. He refused and asked me to make an appointment. So i asked him when he was available to make an appointment and he said he will let me know and hung up.

      Business response

      03/17/2022

On March 4th, *********************** and her boyfriend ***** purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with ******* miles from my dealership. Taija was approved for financing. We all signed the contracts, they made a deposit on the Jeep, and drove off with it that night. We received a call from Taija saying the car shakes on the highway. I agreed to meet her to get the vehicle looked at by a mechanic.  The Jeep was inspected by 3 mechanics including Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep in Brooklyn Park. Every mechanic explained the Jeep was in great condition and the only issue was a hop in the tire from sitting for a period in the cold. I agreed to put new tires on the Jeep and get it detailed as an added service.
Taija later decided to back out of her contract. On March 11th, Taija and ***** came to my dealership demanding their down payment back.I was out and an employee was there alone. ***** threatened and yelled at my employee. Taija and ***** both went behind the receptionist desk and went through and slammed all the drawers while ***** yelled at my employee. My employee felt threatened and called the police. After police were called, ***** left and Taija stayed to talk with the police.
After the March 11th incident, I decided it was unsafe for my employees to be alone at work.  I run a small dealership and regularly only have one employee working at a time. Im losing business and unable to stay open during regular business hours. I have received an extreme amount of phone calls from Taija and *****, some were aggressive and threatening. I have decided to not have Taija or ******************* to the dealership for the safety of my customers, employees, and myself.
They have been difficult to work with and I have cut off all communications with both parties. I have video of them driving off with the Jeep, video of the incident on March 11th, recorded phone calls, and reports from mechanics proving the Jeep they purchased from my dealership was in excellent condition.

      Customer response

      03/17/2022

I am rejecting this response because:

While going over paperwork, I asked House of Cars if the vehicle was certified pre-owned. He told me that it was not. During my test drive, we pointed out a few minor things about the vehicle that needed to be addressed. We all came to the agreement that the dealership was going to fix the issues at there expense. As well as a detail because the car was never detailed/cleaned prior to the dealership purchasing the vehicle. House of Cars claimed to have the vehicle being serviced/detailed for over a week. I am not sure why it would take that long if he is claiming that the vehicle was in excellent condition.
On March 11th, when I went to House of cars, I requested that the police were to be called so I could I file a report because the employee kept saying there was nothing that he could do and ***** refused to come up to his business himself.
After I had filed my first police report, the employee was texting with ***** on the phone and the employee informed me to come back on Monday. When I get there on Monday, shortly after they were open, the dealership was closed. I made no threatening remarks or statements to any person, other than telling him that I was going to take legal action against his business and file complaints, which he didnt seem to worried about. I have been trying to get ahold of the dealership in regards of the situation, as the dealership has the vehicle, my down payment, and my loan termination status. I have since been trying to reach out to the dealership to confirm that my contract had been terminated. The dealership has not been answering any questions I have for them.
