Bad measurements, bad communication and bad attitudeI hired ***** through ************** Services to install an attic ladder in my garage. We reviewed the project in person and agreed on a price. He started working on the project. After 40min or so he asked me to come out and look. It appeared here didnt accurately measure the cutting on the opening and installed the ladder to find out it wouldnt fully open, due to hitting my garage door. This is where it got weird and uncomfortable. We both looked at the opening and he said he would need to cut more of the opening for it to work. There were wires nearby that he mentioned to me, so I asked how much room he needed. He said 3-4in so I said just move the wires out of the way as they flexed up to 6in, so there was plenty of room to do that. He said unless you want me to cut the wires with an attitude. I ignored that comment and said okay so why are you showing me this as it appears you didnt cut enough to begin with. He said because when there is an extra $100 charge on the bill he wanted me to know why. He continued the project and I called ************** Services to discuss the issue with *****. They opened a case. Upon the completion of the project, I walked ***** through the situation explaining to him how it was his responsibility to make accurate measurements before spending 45min installing the ladder. His client shouldnt have to pay extra for his mistake as a *********. Of course, he reacted with a bad attitude and didnt want to admit to the common sense error of the situation. He left on bad terms but did get paid, just not the extra $100 he wanted for his mistake. I did give him an additional $30 since he had to cut more of the opening. *** never had a ********* or remodeler act the way he did. Very poor attitude and not professional!
