Absolutely horrible experience. We signed an agreement in June of 2021 to do James Hardie siding. We were assured that our product was NOT on backorder and work would begin in no more than 6 to 8 weeks. This went by and in September after being told multiple times our product was in only to be mistaken 4 times for someone doing a deck we were told that the Color matching caulk was on backorder.....March of 22 comes and we are told that the caulk was available and the project would begin. After almost 3/4 of the siding being put on my wife notice flaws in the paint. She contacted the project manager who blew her off and said that female homeowners typically don't know what they are looking at. Finally he came out and agreed with her but still took almost a month to contact James Hardie for verification. After many no shows and multiple excuses I went to their office where I met Steve. He assured me this was incredibly rare and all the excuses he could come up with. This was the first of a few visits as the failures kept coming. Product failures and people being pulled off the job was common. Remember when I said this started in March? Well we are now in October. The whole summer I had no gutters my finished basement was always damp and still he would not take responsibility for anything. Finally when the project was near completion I asked for a break in the price due to over 16 months of BS and he said NO! He complained that he spent too much money on this project due to product delays (which James Hardie reimbursed him for ) I told him about how hard this whole experience was on my family at which point he chuckled. He actually laughed at this. I was furious and called him out on it. He did give me a minute break but you know what?? They still are not done. I have called several times and emailed as well. No reply. Is this the type of person you want to trust and give money to? I only had 2000 characters or else this would have been longer.Review from Jon M

I signed a contract with Home Pro America on 01/30/2023 to construct a new residential deck. I made a substantial down payment. They applied for a building permit in 2/2023. It was granted but not issued because of their nonpayment. I have attemped to contact them. They have not responded. I would like a return of my down payment.Review from S. L

Found this POS at the home remodel show at US Bank Stadium. Took $23k from us as a downpayment for our new deck. Haven't heard a word since. We have called/emailed...nothing. Legal action has started. Last we heard there have been 18 cases filed against this company with local law enforcement, a total a little over half a million STOLEN from customers. Good luck trying to get ahold of anyone their office is closed and cleaned out! Shame on you!!Review from Dwight P

We engaged HPA to remodel our kitchen, and we are happy with the final results. BUT living through the project was extremely frustrating. Others have mentioned turnovers at the company, and we experienced irritation with that. And no one seemed to talk to anyone else on the project: The original design team seemed to disappear and the person who was in charge of ordering materials went on maternity leave, without leaving anyone to cover for her. So there was constant confusion about what had been ordered and when, what was to be installed and what not. The crew that came to review the design plans and to make final measurements were not the people we had to deal with through the project. We were faced with false assurances of a time line. We had delays because measurements were wrong and plans didn't meet code. Whenever we raised complaints with the owner, we got we got excuses, questions about whether we were accurate, and passing-the-buck ("well, it's not really our fault" or "well, it's a supplier issue") -- together with requests for another installment payment. Much of the initial work had to be redone, including the granite countertops, because the measurements were wrong. But we finally agreed to make the final installment payment, because we are "able to live" with what we got. Had it not been for Jamie, we would have pulled out half way into the project and gone to court to recoup our money. NOW we have received a call from the chief of the subcontracted crew that the owner of the company is refusing to pay him and his sub-subcontractors, and suggesting that they might look to us to contribute. I have received no answer from HPA to my letter expressing disappointment with that, especially since the cost had gone from an initial estimate of around $60,000 UP to to $90,000. Steve, the owner,. assured me that we would be provided lien waivers and an indemnity against mechanic's liens one he received my final payment. But that hasn't happed, either.Review from Barbara B.

If it was possible to leave a negative star review I would. This company literally caused my husband and I emotion distress and loss of sleep. Reading the reviews below, I am so glad to see that we are not the only customers who have felt compelled to report this company to the Minnesota Attorney General's office and the Minnesota Board of Contractors and Licensure. When we signed our contract, we were assured and have proof via email that our project would be started in Dec....and then it was January (2021), When in reality, it took them almost a full year to start our project. The turn over rate at their company seems to be horrific. We never knew who was going to be our "project manager" this week, so nobody knew what was really going on. They actually sent window installers to our house before the ground had even been broken for our project!! Steve (the owner) will tell you straight out that things were a "mistake" and then blame those mistakes on anyone but the company. Our project when it was finally "completed" - (we were still missing a window screen), failed the city inspection over 7 different points. (This is not the first time during the course of the project the city failed them). When we finally got the final, final bill - we are very glad we checked over meticulously because we had been charged for work that was not done! I would only recommend this company to my worst enemy! - and even then I would wonder how I could be so cruel. Do not! use HomePro!!!!Home Pro America Response

**** and *******, thank you for being valued customers. The last thing that we want is for any project to be distressing to a home owner. Taking on a whole home remodel is a big task, and can cause stress along the way, as there are bound to be challenges that come up with such a large scale project. All of the challenges that were faced were met head on and solved. Your report to the **************************** and the ** ***** of ********** were both reviewed, and both were dismissed as there was no negligence found by either party. All inspections have been passed and your permit is closed out with the city. If you have anything that you need to discuss, please call me directly at ************. I hope you have a great day!Review from Joseph B

We hired them to remodel our second floor and add a deck. It was a rough experience. They promised ** the best work and they did not deliver. Almost everything they did they had to redo. And when I commented on how I did not like somthing they told me the city said it had to be that way. And then I checked with the city and they disagreed. And then when I confronted home pro about it they said it's the way do things. So I would only recommend this company to my worst enemy.Home Pro America Response

Horrible company to work with. Multiple issues: 1. I received 8 different versions of the bill. If I did not review every detail of each bill, it very much felt like fees were being hidden and/or fabricated. 2. Received only a few day notice of the beginning of the project. Once it began, what was suppose to be a 2 week project according to the sale guy and initial project manger, turned into 2+ months of nagging and pushing in order to get it done. 3. Communication was horrendous. One project manager left during the project. New project manager was great but overworked and undervalued so he could only do so much. Do not recommend this company.Review from Brian R

Home Pro gave us a bathroom remodel estimate based on using Onyx materials that was in line with the other estimates we received, so we decided to go with them. They then required us to pay a $1500 design fee before proceeding. They then took us to ProSource to select colors and styles. Turns out ProSource doesn't carry Onyx, so we were directed toward a product called Leslie Marble. No mention was made that it was a more expensive product. The final cost ended up being 53% higher than the original estimate. Additionally, we were told they would start work in March (2021) and be done by the end of the month. Work didn't start until April and wasn't completed until Nov 11, 2021. Amongst the reasons for taking so long: 1) three different project managers were involved (the first two either quit or were fired), 2) somebody ordered the wrong sized shower walls and new ones had to be reordered. 3) the first shower door rail was too short, the second one was the wrong color; finally, the third one was correct, 4) Home Pro was informed on May 7th the wrong shower valve was installed. Despite repeated inquiries it wasn't until July 16th before the plumber showed up to install the correct valve. In the meantime hot water was getting into the cold water lines for our upstairs bathroom making for some very hot showers! 5) Since nobody picked up the mirror, light fixtures and towel bars on hold at Lowes, Lowes sold them. They then had to be reordered. 6) We discovered chips and cracks in the shower base. The chips were repaired but they simply placed molding over the cracks. In addition, we received a warning of city code violation because Home Pro left the bagster with all the demolition materials and trash in our driveway for over three months. We filed a complaint with the MN Attorney General's office and with the MN Dept. of Labor and Industry (case is still open) stating we believe Home Pro violated MN Statute 325F.69 Unlawful Practices.Home Pro America Response

Dear *****,Thank you for being a valued customer! 2021 was a year that HPA and many others in our industry and a nation as a whole faced challenging times with things such as material shortages and delays, shipping issues, and staffing challenges. Our goal at the end of every project is to have created a space that our customers can enjoy for a long time, exemplifies fine craftmanship and quality, and to have built a trusted relationship throughout the project. In this case it seems as though you feel we may have fallen short in those deliverables. I would love to talk with you about your concerns, if you are willing. Please call at your convenience. Warm Regards,*****, OwnerReview from Sandra R

They *required* my husband to be present to even give me a free consultation. Not a good fit for a busy family or one who needs things to run smoothly.Review from RK O

Terrible company to work with. The work we hired Home Pro America to do should have taken approximately 2-weeks to complete. It took the workers over 2 months for the bulk of the work and they aren't finished yet. Our original project manager was less than helpful and horribly uncommunicative. We were assigned a new project manager who no longer works there. A third project manager recently contacted us and has no clue where the status of the project is. There is ZERO communication within the company or with us. There was an issue with EVERY single part of the project. Nothing has gone according to plan or smoothly. We showed up at their shop to air our grievances with the owner who was condescending to us. This company was recommended via Home Advisor who we will also be filing a complaint with. Do NOT give this company your money. At least one star is required but I would have left them all blank.
