      I was introduced to the salesman Emmanuel ****** over the phone by a friend and he told me he had the car I was looking for $500 above my asking price after all discount deals. Since I sold my car before purchasing a car, I was in a crunch time to pick up my kids and had few hours to come to the dealership to close the deal if all went well. Once I came to the dealership, I realized the price of the car was actually over $3k of my asking price but I allowed him to talk me into taking this deal as he explained that the car was actually almost $5k above the asking price and that I was lucky to get such a great deal on the car that day. It was pick-up time for my kids and I had to go so, I was persuaded into paying for the car. I quickly checked but only noticed after I got home there was a passenger's door weather strip ripped off. On the third day, when I brought the car back to return, the salesman did not want to talk about it at all and denied ever bringing me to that dealership to pretense a deal and switch up. Per my request to speak to his manager Joseph Petrusa came to me with the most disturbing attitude, starting off with " Young lady I TALKED TO Emmanuel AND HE INFORMED ME EVERYTHING AND I WILL NOT REGOTIATE OR TALK TO YOU. YOU BOUGHT THE CAR AND WE ARE DONE" I asked him if he was even willing to give me the opportunity to listen to my side but he refused and asked me to leave. I asked him if there was any policy or any legal paper that I signed that said this sale was final but apparently it did not matter. I tried to talk to another co-manager but he asked him to NOT interfere with his team and decisions. Mark Swenson could only try to help de-escalate the situations at the time but could not do much else. I was beyond shocked at how I was mistreated yesterday. The manager Joseph Petrusa was beyond unprofessional and disrespectful! No wonder the salesman felt so comfortable behaving that way, his boss was out of control.

      I've purchased two vehicles from Maplewood Toyota. My wife and I were so impressed with our first purchase (used Camry) that when we were looking for a new Highlander, we drove across town to purchase from Maplewood again. Last week we utilized the Service Dept at Maplewood Toyota for the first time. I was blown away by (a) prompt service, (b) personal attention by multiple employees, (c) fair prices, (d) attention to the details - laundry list of work done on my vehicle, and (e) positive can-do attitude from every employee I interacted with. Are there areas where they could have done better? Sure. There was some confusion about when my car would be ready to pick up. I called and was told the vehicle was ready, but when I arrived the paperwork/keys had not been processed (car wasn't ready to pick up). I went looking for someone to help me understand the next steps, and the manager walked right up and helped me himself. Within 5 minutes everything was straightened out (the vehicle was in the process of being driven up to the service center door, so I could take it home). These kinds of glitches are normal; what impressed me was the way the service team responded - no one was thrown under the bus, they just solved the problem. Well done.

      Front desk worker, Ross, was very unprofessional! There was a situation where he cursed at the salesman in front of us for an internal issue. Whatever the case was, he should not have done that in front of all the customers in front of the store. It was very demeaning and humiliating to our sales rep. Our sales rep, Yee, remained calm and de-escalated the situation. Yee’s professionalism and ability to stay calm while being humiliated should be commended and rewarded. We walked out with a truck that day only because of Yee and the way he carried himself. Ross on the other hand definitely needs some training on how to respect and treat his colleagues, if that is the way Toyota of Maplewood, MN is ran. They really need to remove their management immediately and replace them.

      Our salesman Steve R. was amazing and I would go straight to him to purchase another vehicle. This review is not about Steve R., rather, a broken process or shady dealings in the Finance/Warranty Department. When financing, I opted for the best extended warranty available to me. When it came time to use the extended warranty, I was told that I never had an extended warranty. So I financed and have been paying monthly for a warranty that I do not have. I called Maplewood Toyota to issue a refund, and they said they would send a refund check to Toyota Financial Services. Instead, I was signed up for a different warranty, even after I clearly declined a different warranty and stated that I wanted only a refund. The alternative warranty Maplewood switched me to (without my consent) expires in a matter of months based on my vehicle's mileage, as opposed to the original warranty that would've covered me for years. Not only did Maplewood Toyota go against what I asked and signed me up for a different warranty without permission, but they never informed me that they did so. It took me calling 4 months later to check on the status of the refund. I will change my review when the situation is resolved. I am a small-business owner, and it's so easy to do the right thing for my customers. Please do the right thing.
