Hired them to do landscaping and shoreline work. We wanted completion by the 4th of July. Water level was high from rainfall. I informed them it rose again saturating the ground. We were ok to postpone the lakeshore part. Theyre response was the water was not a problem and theyd be the judge. They did not listen or exercise good judgement. When removing cement by the house we discovered it went deep. I told them to chip it down and cover it up suggesting utilizing a jackhammer. They came back the next day with a large machine to rip it out, destroying the lawn in the area; including severing a neighbors inground wiring. They did not account for the ground saturation on the shoreline. They used heavy machinery that created large areas of destruction and a large hole by leaving a machine by the shore. It sank destroying the sprinkler system. Destruction increased by bringing a machine to pull it out. The beachfront sand was fine but the riprap was a fiasco. No professional judgement in placement. No choice given us on the size of the riprap that would be more appropriate. When I complained the ******* called his boss to come. The boss was rude and condescending. He referenced the contract about incidental damage. We were ok with incidental but not the destruction. I told him it was all avoidable if theyd listened or if they exercised professional judgement. He did not care. He made no attempt to rectify anything. They also claimed to not recall the discussion about ground saturation and water level. It should not matter either way if theyd used professional judgement. This boss also began preaching religious dogma to me and then to my neighbor. Definitely not appropriate. We were looking for some financial break we could use to hire someone to fix all the damage. He had the nerve to say he should charge us more to accommodate the extra time his crew had spent fixing the riprap, which wasnt done. We caution anyone considering hiring them. Watch the fine print.

      G&M Outdoor Services LLC Response

      08/24/2022

G&M made many efforts to work with the clients during the project. When a large construction project is happening on a property 20+ ton equipment can't come in and out with no affects to the ground. We understand the clients frustration as we tried to work with him and he was heavily intoxicated throughout the time we were on site. We have never had such a review (refer to our ****** listing) and always make things right with the client if they are able to do the same with us.

      Customer Response

My reply to their reply. First of all, we didnt have issue with some damage by machinery. But they did not listen to us when we brought to their attention the water level and ground saturation and suggested they postpone the shoreline work and just complete the house perimeter work by the 4th, which would have mitigated the extent of the destruction. Second, they made no attempt to help rectify the situation such as filling in/smoothing over the large gaping hole in my back yard caused by their machine being left unattended to sink. Again, this could have been avoided if they listened to us. Their claim is there was no such conversation, which is not accurate. Even their scheduler was informed ahead of the work but they chose to ignore the warning. Lastly, and most importantly, this person asserting that I was intoxicated throughout the time they were on site is not only completely untrue, but is libelous. Even the work crew can attest to that. I was at work various times throughout the time and this person was not on site until the end. If he actually meant the encounter he had with my neighbor; I cannot speak to that since I was not present for that interaction. I only know that my neighbor told me about his pontificating about the evils of alcohol.
