Kevin is great. He did a great job on my garage heater-a real pro.I would give him the 5 stars The sold me a garage heater and installed it: ran a gas line, vented through roof etc, permits etc Used quality material, took no short cuts. Best of all he was very reasonably priced. He beat Costco by $1000, and another HVAC company by$1300. I wish I wouid have used him for my furnace... Jerry Eagan

One star (not good) doesn't go far enough down. He is horrible! Poor communication. Was contracted to hang a garage heater in the fall when we moved into our house. He kept changing the schedule, multiple times, finally hung the heater in the garage BUT never ran the gas line. Now it's winter and the ground is frozen. He purchased better heat blankets that were suppose to defrost within 24-48 hours. He came out 3 weeks later took two shovels out and said he needed to come back another time. Meanwhile my business is suffering and my electric bill is skyrocketing. He ended up walking off the site saying he wasn't going to finish. So I am left looking for a contractor to finish his work. Worst subcontractor I've ever worked with and I was in construction for years.

Windy's Heating and Cooling LLC Response

I took partial payment at scheduling since it would be a drawn-out job due to the outbuilding being finished off by multiple trades working around each other to get the finished project done. The second payment was supposed to be paid at time of rough in inspection. The inspection went great, but the customer/homeowner decided they did not want to pay until the end which was not the agreement or protocol. Then the third payment was due at time of garage heater install date. The install happened as planned but no payment was made. They decided not to pay again. At this point I'm thinking they will never pay, so I will not go out of my way to finish the job as I doubt I will be paid anyway. The last straw was when I came to start digging more of the trench that has to be at least 12" deep to the top of the gas line. The husband started violently yelling at me wondering why the job is not done yet. This scared me and I did not feel safe at this home anymore. If they had been paying me as the various stages of the project was getting done, then yes the project would have been done in a timely manner. Since I didn't feel safe anymore I left for the day and came back hopefully after the customer has calmed down the next day. I took pictures of all the work that had been completed then grabbed everything that was at the house that belonged to Windy's ******************************************* and left. For a moment I was thinking I would have to call the police as one of the homeowners was following me around. As of yet I still have not received full payment for the work completed. As things sit, I will most likely have to go to court for the remainder to get rightfully paid to me.

And install garage heater on Dec 10th.12.5.21 ***** received an invoice for payment. Now the only work that has been actually done in the rough-in in the garage to get inspected. No trench, no gas line, no heater.12.06.21 ***** responded: You will get paid in full when the job is complete and not before. You had the entire month of November to trench in the gas line and now it is below zero and the sheetrockers are in trying to mud with electric heaters.12.08.21 *****: You always mud and tape with electric heaters. I cant install the heater until mudding, taping and sanding is complete. I was told you were putting plywood on the ceiling and walls, so I came today expecting to hang & install heater because you husband told me he was going to put up a sheet of plywood. Now I cant install the garage heater until sanding walls are done. But I put down the heated blanket to thaw out ground so I can dig. I will be back tomorrow to start digging trench all day and Friday as well. And yet, I would never warranty the garage heater if installed before sanding drywall is complete. Do you know when the sanding will be complete? This will allow me to schedule the hanging of the garage heater.*****: If it is dry tomorrow they will complete it.*****: Perfect. Then Friday I will be able to install the garage heater. Tomorrow I will concentrate on digging the trench the whole day.(We had to hire someone to do the interior as **** and I both had COVID and were unable)12.15.21 Appointment scheduled by ***** for Dec 19 Dig Trench and install gas line 12.15.21 Appointment scheduled by ***** for Dec 17 Install Garage Heater 12.17.21 *****: My powerblanket to thaw the ground is not working very well to I ordered two more to help with this project. The shipment will come towards the end of this coming week. Thought I would keep you in the loop as to whats happening.12.18.21 *****: ***** this is really unacceptable. You could have had the work done in November before the frost and snow. Not understanding why you dont have a trencher to get it done. Not only that but to have the electric **** for having the blankets plugged in for???.12.18.21 *****: Fall time I was booked out for 4 weeks. So if there were rain days or people ahead of you because of the rain days needed to get done then things get set back further and further until it get done. I am getting to you as fast as I can. Trencheres will not work in frozen ground that has to get thawed out. It is costing me more to do the job then your paying me at this point. And Im not asking you to pay me more. I told you you dont have to worry about it the ground freezes that it will not cost you more. And you also kept changing what you were doing to the inside of the building as well which means I could not install the unit wither until you were ready for it. If you want I can charge you for just the work that was done and you can find someone else to finish for at least a couple thousand more then Im charging you then Im okay with that. Let me know as soon as possible as I was planning on installing the garage heater tomorrow then all that would be left is the gas line. I could have also had the gas line done already if my ground thawing blanket was working properly. Its supposed to thaw the ground to the depth I need it within ***** hours. I understand you wish things were moving faster but right now in todays world with all that going on things are taking longer to get done and Im sorry but there is nothing I can do to change that. Let me know what you decide.12.18.21 *****: Finish the job you started asap.12.28.21 ***** scheduled to dig trench 12.28.21 ***** scheduled to lay down replacement heated blankets 12.31.21 ***** scheduled to dig trench Jan 2 and Jan 4 1.3.22 *****: So many appointments have come and gone with no work being done. Can you tell me when you are really going to finish?1.11.22 *****: I am losing business! The garage heater needs to be finished as soon as possible. When do you plan on digging the trench and completing the work?1.11.22 ***** scheduled to dig trench Jan 14-17th.1.11.22 *****: I will work over the weekend into the beginning of next week to finish.1.16.22 *****: I will be arriving about 1pm after giving it two days to thaw. I will see at that point how far it thawed in that amount of time. Should have gone deep enough but we will see when I get there today.1.16.22 ***** scheduled every three days to thaw, dig trench, Inspection and final hookup on Jan 18th.Comment: New blankets were suppose to thaw within ***** hours, scheduling every 3 days would be 96 hours. Electric **** was over $200 for two months.1.16.22 ***** arrived and said dont worry Ill get it done. Plan on spending the day digging He literally took two shovels and then started covering the ground again. We were watching him just looking at the ground. ***** came back to the door and said it was still too hard. We told him it was affecting my business. **** was not violent, he and I were swearing but not threatening, just ******. 12.17.22 ***** showed up in the middle of the day and didnt expect me to be home. I could see him carry a ladder to the back garage and there should be no reason for a ladder or for him to be in the garage. (At this point it is rocked, taped ready for paint and the heater is installed but not hooked up). I went out and said Now what the **** are you doing? He replied that he was pulling off the job because he did not feel safe being here. I followed him to his truck to make sure no damage was done to my property besides the huge mess he left behind. In addition to the damaged service door due to his cords.1.27.22 Received a quote from Precise Heating in St ****** for $3,117 to run a temporary line now to get me running and then in the spring dig the trench and install the underground gas line.2.1.22 Accepted bid to go ahead and schedule.2.8.22 ***** from Precise came and ran the temp line and set up for pressure test to be inspected.2.11.22 ***** came out hooked up gas line to heater and garage; completed the startup of heater.2.17.22 Received invoice for 1/3 of bid, balance due at completion of job.Comment: Not denying ***** did not dig 10 feet of the trench, did the rough in and hung the heater. If the replacement contractor would be less that the balance on his **** I would have paid him the difference. As it stands I feel ***** has been paid for the heater and install. With expenses incurred and lost due to his inability to do the job and complete in a timely manner. Seriously, originally was going to be 3 days to complete from start to finish and he couldnt do it in 3 months. When he quoted me his schedule was wide open (see original bid) so due to weather days we should have been *************** instead of being the one pushed out.Windys quote $4,008 Paid Windys $1.002 Precise quote$3,117 Paid Precise $1,039 Total cost $4,119 plus increased electric bills and lost business and shows missed.
