We were rear ended in November 2021. The other driver admitted to being at fault and we have been working with travelers insurance. It was taken to Little Bobs for repair. ******************* and Little *** disputed the full amount and showed photos and receipts and a timeline of their interactions. Travelers insists *** didn't provide proper documentation. Long story short, Travelers paid what they are going to pay and we have to take our rental back. *** has been done with our 2010 ***** van for a week now and refuses to release the vehicle to us because of the disputed amount with *******************. We have a family of 7, new twins, and 5 kids and our at our **** end and offered to pay the disputed amount even though we were the victims. *** is still talking about looking in his mailbox for the amount Travelers sent and now states he won't give us our vehicle even if we pay the disputed amount. He has not been compassionate and it is a snowday and we will have to load up all of our kids to get there even if he will release it. We have been without our family van 3 months and just want some closure, this has been a nightmare. Is this legal? Can a body shop hold our vehicle hostage because they are in a dispute with the insurance company?
