Misdiagnosis of a transmission problem. April 15, 2022 Brought my son's 2014 ****** Altima to this repair shop. Before I brought in the vehicle, I called and told them my issue. I explained the issue and asked them it they would replace a valve body because the issue we were having had the symptoms of a faulty valve body.. They told me they would have to diagnose the transmission issue and see what the problem is and give an estimate. I received a call later that day and was told I need a new transmission. When asked if the verified the problem they stated, "yes we have and it needs a new transmission. ****** Altima's of my year all have bad transmissions." I was told. I asked again if they would replace the valve body and refused. They would only replace the transmission at a cost of $8,367. We recently moved to Woodbury and the place we normally take our vehicles for repair was a long drive. I went back to the place I normally go. They replaced the valve body with a new one from the dealer and the vehicle drives fantastic. Total cost, under $1000. Refund of $199.72 is what is needed to rectify this lack of a proper diagnosis

      Resolved
I am hoping for assistance to resolve a matter where I was completely taken advantage of, lied to and left helpless. I want to make sure I hold Village Auto Works in Woodbury reliable for their fraudulent behavior, mistakes, misdiagnosis of my car, potentially causing more damage to my car and complete dishonesty in the whole matter. After my car suddenly stopped while driving & I could not get it to start again, I had to get it towed to the **********.The next morning they said that they did not have any free appointments until December. Since I need my car for work I contacted Village Auto Works in Woodbury to see if they have any appointments & if they can still honor the warranty in case the cause is something that is covered under powertrain warranty. They said that they can start working on it as soon as the car is there and that they can get the warranty. Later they called and said that the cause of the problem is the starter & that the car will be ready the next day, they also told me that the tires and the brakes need to be replaced, & since they said that the car would be ready to drive the next day, I agreed to the replacements as long as my car is completely fixed. The next day they called & said that they have replaced the tires and the brakes & that the starter that they installed has failed & they were going to install another one and that the car would be ready the day after. Although I questioned their diagnosis, they reassured me its just a faulty part and they had to wait until the part arrived and my car should be back to driving the following morning. The third day, they called and said that another starter was replaced but the car is making loud noises, smoking and there is a faulty part in the engine that needs to be replaced and only a Kia ********** can replace it & that I had to tow the car back to the ********** and pay them for their work & the parts they replaced. From my understanding my car (58k miles) now needs a new engine!

On November 8th, we were contacted by Mr. **** asking if we had
availability to look at his 2015 Kia ******* He stated that the vehicle
was currently at the Kia *********** but they wouldn't be able to get to
it for a few weeks. He had the vehicle towed here. Our technician determined that it was indeed the starter. With every vehicle that we have come into the shop, we do a vehicle health inspection. With
that inspection being done, it was determined that all four tires,
front brake pads and rotors, brake fluid were in need of replacement. We also recommended a wheel alignment to protect the new tires from premature wear.Mr. **** agreed to the repairs. Once the starter was replaced, it turned out to be defective so we had to replace it yet again under warranty. Finally got a working starter in,
got the vehicle started and when the engine got
warmer, it developed a noise. We called and asked Mr. **** if the engine
had made any noise prior to the no start situation and we were told no.
Informed him of the noise that we have now heard and also called kia ****** his behalf to see if the engine would becovered under warranty. Was told that they would have to diagnose in
order to find out if it indeed was covered under that warranty or not.
After relaying that information to Mr. ****, we didn't hear from him for
a couple days. At this point we already have
all of the work he approved completed. When Mr. **** returned our call,
he stated that he was in contact with a few different people and that he
didn't want to pay for what was done. Requested that we reinstall all the
new parts with all the used parts that the
vehicle arrived with.  We tried to make contact with Mr. **** saying that
we will install the parts that the vehicle arrived with minus the brake
components because we weren't able to find the pads and rotors, but we were
just going to comp them for him.
