I happen to know that Sela Investments, and Amy ******, can be very accommodating & fair in almost any situation. I've experienced some difficult times recently unrelated to my tenancy, and Amy has been very open & willing to listen & work with me when she really didn't have to. I'm more than grateful to her & the rest of the Sela Team for taking time out to understand my specific situation and being willing to give me a second chance to prove myself a worthy tenant. My unit has not had any issues with heating or anything else substantial since I moved in. The building doors are always secured. There is ample light in the stairwells for added security & safety. The laundry room in the basement is always immaculate & organized. I've seen some pretty rough looking buildings (inside & out) throughout my travels, so I am very satisfied living in a building owned by Sela Investments & managed by Amy ******. Ive rented with Sela for many years over various properties and I have to say that Amy is the best property owner I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Throughout my time of becoming an adult and living on my own ive definitely come across financial obstacles here and there but one thing about it, Amy has been so gracious and supportive towards me and all it takes is honesty and communication. One thing she said to me is she hates having bad relationships with anyone and that maintaining positive relations and keeping good communication is more important. She will however let you know that this is a business as well, so you gotta do your part. Whats even better is whenever i would voice any concerns about my apartment building, she listened and made necessary improvements to the property so that i felt comfortable. They’re terrible. Heating never worked properly in my apartment. I always had to use portable heaters every fall and winter. They never turn the heat on at the date legally required. Took months for my dishwasher to be fixed. Once they removed our front doors and left all the tenants without a front door overnight. That was very frightening. When it was time for me to leave, I did not receive my full deposit despite leaving the apartment in good condition. Oh and it took a long tine just to get that. I would give zero stars If I could.Review from Jake W

Our property was purchased by Sela after we had signed on with another company prior. Due to some financial things we were required to provide an additional credit deposit that was to be returned in full at the conclusion of our lease. Once it came time to move out we had our inspection and besides some hard water stains, the inspector said everything looked pretty good. We then received about half of our deposit back when the entire credit deposit was guaranteed back, and they charged us for general wear and tear while calling it “damages”. The worst part was when I attempted to call it took over one week to hear back and when I did, the general manager, Amy, was the rudest person I’ve ever dealt with. She constantly interrupted me on the phone and once I finally told her that she needed to listen and stop being rude she hung up on me. This company is one of the most unprofessional property management companies I have ever worked with so I’m warning anyone renting in the St Louis park/ Hopkins area to STAY CLEAR!!Review from Jacob G

Waited for a Rent Validation signature from them for over three weeks. One signature and a few bits of info. The apartment that I am applying for and myself have initiated contact nine times in 22 days, yet there has been no response or action on their behalf. I will be homeless in less than a weem due to these acts of incompetence and blatant disregard to their customers.Sela Investments Ltd, LLP Response

I would have to agree with kari s. My daughter had an accident that caused some damage to her apartment. Amy ****** and Tina ***** have had the claim number, and the claim representative's name and phone number for 6 months, and still are trying to ding my daughter for the repair cost. There was concern about drug dealing and blaming my daughter for it, but they never investigated the neighbor accusing my daughter. HE was the drug dealer. He also was an entrepreneur, cutting up catalytic converters with power tools late at night. Eventually they evicted him but only after my daughter felt she had to escape the situation to a different apartment owner.Review from kari s

I would consider Sela and their property management willfully negligent and unresponsive to tenant complaints. Landlords have a responsibility and obligation for the safety and security of their property. My experience per my GOOGLE review: I have been a tenant for over 15 years at **** ******* *** * and never had a problem with other tenants in the building until Sela bought the building over a year ago. I do not feel safe in or outside the building because of ongoing drug activity by newer tenants in a couple of units. My bike tire was stolen off my bike in a “locked” laundry room. There are people hollering and fighting in and outside the building, at all times of day and night. The latest was a tenant blowing out their windows by “accidentally” leaving an aerosol can on the stove?! I’m writing this here because I have been trying to get this addressed for months and management is hard to reach and rarely responds. [UPDATE] Since writing this, nothing has improved. Someone overdosed in the building a couple of weeks ago; ongoing evidence of drug use (needles, alcohol wipes); multiple people staying in studio apartments meant for one resident; exchanges between the known druggies and others in the parking lot; random cars that don’t belong to tenants, parking in the lot; ongoing damage to the building (lower level windows being broken a lot); mailboxes being broken in to; you never know who you will bump into stumbling in the hallway or waiting to get let in from outside, it’s very scary. I know 6 different tenants who have put in notice, including me! The only person with Sela who has truly responded is John, the maintenance guy. I feel for him, because he’s the one cleaning up after the druggies. I’ve NEVER heard back from Tina ***** and Amy ****** will call or email and say “she’s looking into it but is dealing with a medical problem”, which has happened multiple times.
