I had one of their technician come out to perform a diagnoses on my AC Unit, he claimed the Fan Motor and the Capacitor was out and needed to be replaced. He originally quoted me $1800 and then brought it down to $1100. The guy seem very shady and sketchy. He charged me $99 for the diagnosis. I had Genz-Ryan come out and perform a FREE 2nd opinion diagnosis. They diagnosed the AC Unit and found the capacitor was complete fine, HOWEVER, The Fan motor and Compressor was out and they recommended buy a new AC since the repair costs would be the cost of a new AC. The Bonfe technician did not do their job properly, I was charged $99 for a diagnostic that was not done correctly. They never checked the compressor. I callled Bonfe customer service and requested that they send out another technician to perform the diagnostic correctly, so that I could submit the correct diagnostic to my insurance. They stated that I would have to pay an additional $99 if I want another techinician to come out. The most awful service I have received. First they try to upsell me on the cost of the repairs, second they did not do their job correctly, and lastly they have audacity to say they would have to charge an additional $99 for them to “maybe” do their job right.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

*******,
Were sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your diagnostic quote. Our technicians are licensed and trained to thoroughly inspect equipment and we pride ourselves on our integrity and professionalism. We charge a standard $99 trip charge to send our technician out to your home. The $99 is completely waived should you choose to move forward with any work. If youd like to move forward with the recommended work, or if you choose to invest in a new system, your trip charge on the visit will be waived.Review from Jacob M

Requested service for an error on the thermostat and set up an appointment for $99 diagnostic service. Technician came out and tried to determine the problem. He spent time looking at the wiring and outside connections. Eventually did something to thermostat that caused the AC transformer to smoke and told me I should have the AC unit installer work on it since he should be able to fix it under warranty. He then begun to create a quote for Bonfe to perform the service and I was then charged $225 because he went over the 30 minutes despite failing to alert me to the additional cost. I had called them out to hopefully get the issue resolved quickly if it was a minor issue. But despite them not being able to fix it, they decided to take extra time to run up the cost and provide no tangible benefit to me. The person I eventually went with repaired the system for less than Bonfe's "diagnostic". If you need prompt service, Bonfe may be a good option, but you will most likely be drastically overpaying. Hopefully they change their practices to be more upfront and transparent.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

*****,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. The $99 service charge covers up to 30 minutes of diagnostic time. There is an additional cost when further diagnostic time is required. However, all diagnostic charges are fully waived should you choose to move forward with the recommended work. We have shared your feedback with management and are glad to hear that your cooling issue has been taken care of.Review from Sharon G

Terrible customer service. I was scheduled for a window "some time today"- took the day off of work and they waited until 4pm to let me know there wasn't anyone available to come out. They claim they left me a VM message at 3:20 but they did not so I contacted them to find out when they were showing up. They offered me $50 of "Bonfe Bucks" to compensate for wasting my entire day. What a joke. $50 to possibly wait another entire day for a no-show? (And I assume they would just add $50 to my bill anyhow) Don't book appointments for people if you don't have anyone to show up. They also told me technicians can show up as late as 10pm so the fact they don't have anyone available at 4pm means they grossly overbooked.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

Hi Sharon, We apologize for the inconvenience of needing to reschedule. We work hard to optimize our technicians' schedules each day. Sometimes, a technician will arrive at a job that turns out to be more extensive than the initial scheduling call suggested, or we'll receive an influx of emergency calls that are causing active damage to homes or are safety hazards. Because of all of these moving pieces, we do not provide strict timeframes for customers. Instead, we recommend that you go about your day as normal and we provide a 30-45 minute heads up before the technician is scheduled to arrive at your home, giving you time to get back to the house if you are out. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and will pass this along to our scheduling team. To clarify: You may use Bonfe Bucks for any service. They are filed in your customer account.Review from Jody S

Scheduled routine air conditioning maintenance in April. They came out but wouldn't do the tune up because it was too cold. The tech rescheduled for May 1st and said I would be their 1st appointment. Waited all day on May 1st. Bonfe called at 3:50 pm and said they would not be out that day. They said they would not be able to come out until JULY! I assumed they would have come out as soon as possible and that I would not be put "at the end of the line". I even had their service plan. This isn't the first time that they've overscheduled.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

Wildly overpriced. They bill at about $1400 per hour. The tech was here for about 30 mins and i was billed $700. The job was mediocre, but the price was untenable. I highly recommend looking elsewhere, and I want a refund for the service they did to my toilet.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

Bonfe proudly employs licensed, insured, and background-checked technicians who arrive in stocked trucks ready to complete most work immediately. We provide custom options once weve had a chance to evaluate the job and provide up-front pricing for our recommended solutions. My 2 year old furnace went out, it was 62 in the house, and I had my 91 yo mom here as she's going through chemo. I called the original installer but couldn't get out until late afternoon. Decided to call Bonfe, will never again and will warn others, as they could come within the hour. The problem was the induced draft motor, which was under warranty. Bonfe wanted to charge me $750 for labor, called my installer, said it shouldn't be more than $200 so sent him on his way. He got out he little earlier than thought and it took about 35 minutes to install. Had to pay Bonfe the $99 trip charge however. People .. beware of these companiesBonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Bonfe. I would avoid this company at all costs and instead choose a small, local plumber. You will save money AND have a better experience. I called Bonfe after my shower handle got stuck due to the cartridge needing replacement. The handle had broken as well, so they replaced all of the trim (faucet, handle, shower head) as well. These incredibly simple replacements cost $1,000. This is very steep relative to the prices of other plumbers in the area. By far the most disappointing part of my experience was the repairman who asked to "check the utility room" and then reported that there were three gas leaks. He then tried to sell me a $6,000+ repair for these leaks. Bear in mind, this repairman was here to fix my shower. I could not smell natural gas but called CenterPoint this morning to have them investigate and ensure there were no leaks. The tech found none and said there were no reasons for concern. Not only was this a slimy attempt to increase their profits/ commission, it was also a blatant lie guised as a safety hazard. I will not call this company again and have advised my friends and neighbors similarly.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

When our water heater quit working I checked with BBB rating for Bonfe. The rating of 4.25 indicated to me that Bonfe may be a reliable and capable contractor. The Bonfe tech came to our townhouse in the early afternoon of Dec. 24 to repair or replace our nonworking water heater. He determined the water heater was not repairable and needed to be replaced at a cost of $4,107. He then said I could reduce cost by 15% if I agreed to purchase the "Peace of Mind" insurance program at a cost of $132/year. I declined the insurance plan due to our elderly age and need to possibly move to assisted living facility. The tech strongly suggested we buy the insurance program, which I reluctantly agreed to in order to get a water heater installed. I've now had time to get water heater installation costs from other contractors and they were all less than $2000. So the cost of $4,107 from Bonfe is significantly high. With that being said, I am requesting resolution. I need Bonfe to cancel "Peace of Mind" insurance program and refund my $132 since I have no use for this program. Do not charge $500 to my credit card as a cancellation fee.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

Hi ******, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We always strive to provide exceptional service and, while many of our customers enjoy the peace of mind offered by our home maintenance plan and our Lifetime Warranty on equipment installations based on what youve shared, this is not something you plan to utilize. It looks like youve spoken with our Plumbing Manager and have come to the resolution of a partial refund. If there is anything additional you'd like to discuss, please dont hesitate to reach back out to our team!Review from Thomas B

11/11/2023 Set my appointment up 2 weeks in advance. Got a text the day before saying I would get updates thru out the day for my appointment I called at 2pm to get an update for appointment. They said someone would be calling me back with an update Got call back 3 to 5 minutes later. They said my appointment was canceled and I would have to reschedule because they took to many emergency calls and kick me. They said I would have to reschedule for next week. I said I get the truck roll canceled then for the issues today. They said no They had the on-call Manger call me and he gave me a quote over the phone of $8,000. For the work I needed done I talked to one of there elections on a job site and he told me it would be around $500 to $600 for the work to be done This company doesn't follow what they say and rip people off and they don't care about the people that want to get the work done. Don't hire this company.Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response

******, we apologize for the inconvenience of needing to reschedule. On certain occasions, unexpected emergencies or complex repairs may cause us to reschedule appointments. We take each job seriously and aim to provide the highest level of service, sometimes this means spending more time than anticipated on a repair. As for the pricing, it's challenging to provide exact figures without an in-person assessment by a technician. Our service manager offered you a ballpark estimate based on the information available; however, for a precise quote, we strongly recommend having a thorough home assessment. This allows our technicians to identify any potential issues, understand the complexity of the job, and provide you with the most accurate pricing. If you're interested, wed be happy to get you back on the schedule for a thorough assessment!Review from Toni I

Tom M. came to look at my water softener. Although it was in working condition, I had to manually trigger it to regenerate. Tom tested to see if my water was soft or hard. Come to find out, only my hot water was soft, not the cold. He spent a considerable amount of time checking all the pipes in my 60 year old house and came up with a plan to correct the problem. I was very impressed! Tom explained so much to me about things I had no idea! I strongly recommend Bonfe! I had them to my house last winter when my furnace quit working, and again last month when my laundry room floor drain was clogged. Bonfe has some very knowledgeable and professional team members!Bonfe Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Electrical, Sewer Response
