DM Companies started managing my apartment building on 07/2020. On 07/2021 they started a billing system for individual tenants to split utilities between all tenants in a single metered 13-unit apartment building. This includes water, gas, ************** My last months ****, for a 1 BR apartment, was $216. This has gone up since August from $75. And will continue to go up through the winter. I have paid $0. This company is violating several MN ordinances, since they refuse to provide backup information and claim to have no idea how many people live in the building. It is almost impossible to get anyone from DM Companies on the phone to discuss this with. When I actually talk to someone from their organization, they tell me they are working on it. This started 8/21. I don't know what else to do except contact you.Best regards, **** I can provide all supporting documents, as required. I just don't know if this is the right way to proceed with this matter.

      Business response

Though you do not live here at the Riverwalk in *********, **, we are also managed by DM Companies. DM companies has been doing what they can to assist you. They are not violating any ordinances with your utility billbacks. They have provided you all documents, bills, etc as you have requested them. They have done lease audits and found no errors thus far with occupancy numbers. No needed adjustments have been found.

      Customer response

      01/15/2022

I am rejecting this response because: There are at least 7-8 additional people living in my building as I type this message. The fact that the property manager from ****************************************************************************************************************** the building is ridiculous. The last utility **** for my 1 bedroom apartment, which included water, sewer, gas & trash was $216 dollars. Which calculates to an average 25% increase in billing since they started this scam on August 15, 2020. The property manager is almost impossible to reach by phone.

This shows that the property manager is being negligent and ultimately fraudulent per Minnesota Statue 504B.215 BILLING; LOSS OF SERVICES. They have provided me with one month of billing for the building, in August. Which demonstrated that they did not know how many people lived in my 13-unit building. Per the above statute, they must provide me with at least one year of previous bills for the building. Also, these incorrect **** totals have been transferred to my tenant billing account. Which is also highly frustrating since the **** is not accurate, and might end up on my credit report.

Finally, I am not under lease with this company. They took over management of the building on 07/2020. They will lie and say that the assumed management of the company on 07/2021, but I have one years worth of proof by emails and physical letters to back up my statement. I never agreed to pay fraudulent bills, and I believe my next step is turning to my legal representation.

Best regards, ******* - Please feel free to call and discuss, ************
