I signed up with a gym membership for this gym, but my company offers one pass through united healthcare. When I spoke to the first initial representative they advised that I could swap my plan over to the one pass plan. When I tried to call today to do that exact thing the gym advised that they could not do that and I have to stick with my plan. Which doesnt make sense, seems like a money hungry greed grab by this company. Im sure they could easily swap me to the one pass since theyd be getting paid there but instead they want to grab all the money they can, such a greedy gym and ownership. Be careful going to this gym folks, oh yeah and I cant even be refunded if I switched my membership ?? jokes from this money hungry companyBusiness response

We appreciate you sharing your experience with our corporate office. Our Anytime Fitness locations are independently owned and operated. It is the clubs decision to participate in insurance programs they do have the option to opt out.

THE CLUB PARTICIPATES IN THE PROGRAM THEY JUST WANT TO KEEP CHARGING ME INSTEAD OF SWITCHING IT OVER TO THE PROGRAM. No wonder this company *****, cant even get a good agent that comprehends whats being said. EVERYONE AVOID THIS GYMBusiness response

I am set to be laid off July 1st. This was announced to the company I work for by the *** in advance so we are aware. Today I spoke to a staff member to question if I can cancel or at least pause my membership. Until I regain employment. I was told no. I understand that I signed a contact but I have no control over losing my job which causes a lack of income. I wont have money so Anytime Fitness withdrawing money I dont have due to no fault of mine is borderline theft. I should be able to at least pause.Business response

Our clubs are independently owned and operated and membership changes to your contract would have to go through the club as that is who the legal binding agreement is with. I am sure if you reached out to the club they would work with you on possibly freezing your membership.

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Anytime Fitness West Seattle regarding their handling of my membership cancellation request. Despite multiple attempts to cancel my membership, I have not received a satisfactory resolution. Below is a summary of my attempts to cancel and the responses received:April 29, 2024, 9:03 AM: I requested to cancel my membership due to an unexpected loss of income.June 10, 2024, 10:45 AM: I reiterated my request, stating, "Cancel and send me the bill."June 22, 2024, 12:04 PM: I expressed frustration over the lack of response and demanded the cancellation again.June 22, 2024, 1:14 PM: I asked for confirmation of my previous emails and reiterated my request to cancel.June 22, 2024, 2:17 PM: I stated I would not pay and asked them to send the account to collections.June 22, 2024, 2:20 PM: I informed them of my Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing, which legally protects me from further billing attempts under the automatic stay provision.Despite these repeated requests, Anytime Fitness has continued to contact me regarding billing and has not honored my request to cancel the membership. This ongoing communication is not only frustrating but also in violation of the automatic stay provision under my Chapter 13 bankruptcy, which their billing partner, ABCFitness, has been made aware of.I request that Anytime Fitness immediately cease all contact with me regarding this membership and cancel it without further delay.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Business response

I've been a customer for about a year I am a seasonal worker so in the winter I do not work. I tried to cancel my subscription to anytime at my local sandstone gym. However when I tried to cancel they said I CANNOT because I used another ANYTIME FITNESS facility in *********, MN. That's 4 hours from where I actually live. They are telling me I have to drive 4 hours one way to cancel a gym membership where their system changed my address without my consent. And without my knowledge. And now they won't let me cancel unless I drive the 8 hours there and back. To cancel a $45 dollar gym membership. All I wamt is to cancel my membership and pay whatever fee there is remaining. I wamt nothing to do with ANYTIME FITNESS any longer. I feel like I signed a contract in blood or something.Business response

We appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Our clubs are independently owned and operated. Membership are transferable and this should be stated in the agreement. You would have to follow your membership agreement for cancellation and if your membership transferred you would have to cancel at the location your membership is currently at, I am sure that the club will work with you if you are not in the same area.

I personally went in to cancel my automatic renewal and was told I have 3 payments left, well now I am on the fourth one after my visit. I have called repeatedly the last 2 weeks and every time I am told I would get a call back and never do, this last time I was talking to some one who was very condescending. The Anytime Fitness I am referring to is in *********** ****. I just want to be refunded the amount I should have not been charged and for someone to take of the cancellationBusiness response

I signed up for this gym membership last year and did not use the service once. They are making it impossible to cancel. I have made every payment on time even though Ive never used the facility. Theft! After 8 months of non use Anytime Fitness stole 8 months of fees out of my mothers account. She doesnt have a membership at Anytime Fitness? I gave them verbal notice and signed a cancellation notice! Just because they have a poor system for paperwork, I get punished. Or should I say my 85 year old mother dose! We are sorry that you are having such a poor experience at the Anytime Fitness you are referring to. **** our clubs are independently owned and operated and any cancellations would have to be worked out with the club and member. We are not able to step into this as the contract is between the entity of the club in question and the member. We are not able to refund or cancel any memberships. I would reach out to the club or contact our corporate office to reach out to the owner.

I followed instructions on the initial contract I received regarding cancelation. I never received a response from corporate or the affiliate. After 6 plus weeks of no response, I was informed that they required a certified mail request to not renew my membership. ( no mention of this requirement in the contract) On phone stated they would accept my request. On the next billing cycle, they took out the fee. I went to go to the gym to officially cancel (on my off day), and the manager said to come to me so I can handle the request. I was satisfied with the manager's response as long as no further deductions are made as I did make my intent to cancel 45 plus days earlier.I am hopeful that my membership has ended and that no further deductions will occur from my account.Business response

Anytime Fitness makes it unreasonably difficult to cancel your membership. I've called the gym multiple times, requesting to end the membership. Each time, I was told that this could not be done over the phone, but that they would instead email the necessary paperwork to be mailed back to them. However, they have never sent me the paperwork. Apparently, the membership can only be cancelled by meeting with an employee, in person at the gym. However, each time I've arrived at the gym, there has not been an employee present and the staff office has been empty. This has been going on for months. It should not be this difficult to simply cancel a gym membership.Business response
