Chex Systems, **** (ChexSystems) has reviewed the complaint filed by *******************************. Ms. ******** complaint indicates to review the attached document however, no documents were attached to the complaint.
Our records indicate that ChexSystems has received a dispute directly from the consumer regarding information submitted by ************** As is our standard practice when a consumer dispute is received, ChexSystems sent a letter to notify the consumer of our intent to initiate a reinvestigation.ChexSystems has also notified the source(s) of the consumers dispute and provided them with a copy of the supporting document and requested that they reinvestigate the accuracy and completeness of the information they submitted. The reinvestigation is still in process and once it is completed ChexSystems will notify the consumer of the results.Initial Complaint

In April of this year, I applied to ************** to open a CD account. Online it stated that I should hear something within 3 business days. I didn't hear anything, then I got a letter in the mail stating that I was not approved. There was information to get a report from ChexSystems. I tried to file to get the report online, it would not work. Then I called ChexSystems. I was able to navigate the phone system and get a report sent to me. There is no information in the report. I figured out that Transunion requested information from them on 4/05/2024. I went to get my free credit report from Transunion. Under Third Party Supplemental Information is the record of this inquiry. It shows that ChexSystems found information that 1 had a checking account that was closed ************************************************************************************ the past 5 years that had an unpaid balance of $2063.98. I am not aware of this account. I don't know anything about this account. When I called ChexSystems today (6/11/24) it took me 11 minutes to get to a representative. I tried to explain that I wanted information about this account and what was provided to Transunion. I got put on mute or something. I was on the phone for 23:35, after which the survey came on that I gave them a poor rating. I was not able to talk to anyone for more than a minute or two. When she went to talk she transferred me or put me on mute. Then I heard nothing for the next 12 minutes. I need to talk to this company about my credit history. I don't know of any other way to track down this information and figure out what is going on with my credit file. The representative sounded like she was standing outside because I heard wind on the phone. She just kept asking what she could do. When I stopped talking, I am not even sure what she said, then the line went quiet. I was still connected to the system as I kept checking to make sure I didn't get hung up on. I need to know what is on my file.Business response

ChexSystems provides services to financial institutions and other businesses that have a permissible purpose under the ***** ChexSystems services primarily assist its clients in assessing the risk of opening new accounts. When providing this service, ChexSystems abides by the requirements of the **** and any applicable state statutes.ChexSystems neither approves nor declines accounts for its clients. Account opening decisions are determined by an institution and its individual policies.
Our records also indicate that **************** submitted a request for a consumer disclosure report though our IVR system on May 16, 2024.A copy of ****************** ChexSystems consumer disclosure report was sent to her on May 20, 2024, which was created by using the identifiers provided to us.There is additional information on ChexSystems files which is similar to the consumer, however since the identifiers **************** provided did not match those listed on ChexSystems files, we are unable to release that information to the consumer.
If **************** can provide us with the following identifier(s), we would be happy to continue our search and release to the consumer any additional matching information: Other first / middle / and last names used and all addresses used within the past 5 years (please include P.O.Boxes, if applicable).
ChexSystems has no record of receiving a phone call from the consumer as referenced in the complaint. To contact ChexSystems by phone the consumer may call ************ and when prompted, say other options to be transferred to a ChexSystems representative.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ******** and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.I called the number provided and was able to speak with a representative. He stated that after I verified my previous address, he did see the missing information from the previous report. He was unable to tell me the information I was looking for but was able to verify that an account was listed with a financial institution. It is frustrating that it took this many steps to get this information. I don't understand why when I called previously, they couldn't verify the information and send out the corrected or correct report.

they declined me from openning a bank account because they dont see me writting checks there is no derogatory bank reports from them just they dont see me so i get denied ,,i do every thing online or use my card seems they dont like that there is no reason to denie me from openning a bank accountBusiness response

Chex Systems, **** (ChexSystems) has reviewed the complaint filed by *****************************.
Our records indicate that ChexSystems has received a dispute from the consumer, which states that information contained in ChexSystemsfiles is a result of identity theft. The dispute was received on 05/22/2024 through a CFPB Complaint. ChexSystems also received a copy of an *** Identity Theft Report document. The Identity Theft Report includes a notation that states,Use this form to prove to businesses and credit bureaus that you have submitted an *** Identity Theft Report to law enforcement. Some businesses might request that you also file a report with your local police. To accept the *** report for tradeline block purposes, ChexSystems does require that it be signed by a law enforcement officer or that the consumer also provide a copy of a report filed with local police.
As is our standard practice when a dispute of this nature is received without a law enforcement officer ********* or copy of a report filed with local police, ChexSystems initiated a reinvestigation of the disputed information with the source(s) and provided them with a copy of the *** Identity Theft Report. The reinvestigation is still in process and once it is completed ChexSystems will notify the consumer of the results.
If ************** would like to provide a copy of a police report filed with a local police department, or a copy of an *** Identity Theft report signed by a law enforcement officer, he may do so at any time and ChexSystems will review the matter further and take appropriate actions in accordance with the requirements of section 605B of the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act.Initial Complaint

I found fraud within the ChexSystems.com. Upon calling to inquire about this information and the hardship of logging into the portal, I find that this office is in *****. Not only is the website itself very uncomfortable to maneuver though, but so was the phone call to the company. I am 150% uncomfortable with giving my social, address, and further very personal information to some office that isn't located in *****************, but rather in *****. Please explain to me, why are US banks and credit unions that represent our military in the ************* are 'FORCING' us to give personal information over the phone to some place located in *****. Furthermore, Why in the world would these banks actually find it acceptable to do business in this manner? Navy Federal, Gulf Winds, and Pen Air are at least 3 that use this service. I am contacting every bank, credit union, and every online avenue I possibly can to bring awareness to this. I have inaccurate information on this crazy report, but I am stuck with its repair because I absolutely refuse to give out my personal information that could lead to fraudulent activity, stolen identify, and bank fraud to an over seas person on the other end of the phone. Why in the world, would US based businesses seek the use of over seas companies to obtain personal information on their members or that of possible new members. This is disgusting. These 3 credit unions should be ashamed and any others that use this service.Business response

I am extremely frustrated with the condition of my credit report. It is evident that this institution is failing to fulfill its duty to provide an entirely accurate credit report. As a consumer, I am aware of my rights, and it is my entitlement to receive a completely correct credit report. I rely on my credit report for important financial decisions, and these discrepancies are causing me considerable stress and anxiety.It is vital for financial institutions to clearly explain their procedures regarding the collection and sharing of personal data, giving individuals control over their information. Moreover, it is essential to protect this data from unauthorized access. Upholding privacy rights and adhering to legal standards are fundamental responsibilities for all businesses. Upon reviewing my recent credit report, I have found numerous inaccuracies in billing. These inconsistencies, which I demand be corrected immediately, highlight a significant failure in the management of my account by the creditor. It is worth noting that I have consistently made timely payments and provided accurate information regarding the information to Chex Systems.Using someone else's identification without legal authorization, especially regarding my personal information, is illegal and unauthorized. Protecting myself and my information from the repercussions of identity theft is of utmost importance. I strongly urge the immediate removal of these erroneously reported inaccuracies from my credit report. Your prompt assistance and attention to this matter are greatly appreciated.Business response

Our records indicate ****************** has placed a security freeze on his consumer file and the current address provided on the complaint does not match the address associated with the security freeze. In order for ChexSystems to update his current address information and communicate with him further at the address provided with the complaint, we must receive the Personal Identification Number (***) that was assigned to him when the security freeze was placed. ****************** may call ChexSystems to provide the *** verbally and request his address be updated or he may mail the information to us. If ****************** has lost or misplaced his ***, he will need to contact ********************** to request a new ***. He may submit the request through our website at www.chexsystems.com, he may contact the ************************** by phone at ************ or he may submit a request by mail to Chex Systems, **** Attn:**************************, ***********************************, and include his name, address, and Social Security number. Our records indicate that on 04/02/2024,**************** attempted to obtain his report online through our website and the security quiz could not be generated as the consumer could not be located based on the information they entered or there is not enough information about the consumer to generate a quiz. When this occurs, a message will display informing the consumer to contact ChexSystems using another method. ChexSystems receives security quiz information from a third party that provides authentication services. If the consumer would like to check or update their public record information, they may call ************** or go to the website www.choicetrust.com. Based on the content of the complaint, ChexSystems has mailed a copy of his consumer disclosure report to ****************.
