I was given a gift certificate for $200.00 by my sons. Expiration date 12/2022. I made a reservation for August 19th and 20th . Drove approximately 4hrs. I was told upon arrival they would not honor the $200.00 and that I owed $73.04 . The business had been sold to new owners and that no owners were there to handle the issue. The girl and the front desk said "her computer said I was responsible for $73.04 instead of $24.70 which was stated on my receipt!. I was very upset, called my son and rather than loose, and ruin my vacation my son charged the $73.04 on his ****** card. My receipt states balance Of $24.70 for tax. I've called 3 times and have had no luck getting this resolved. I was told owners were in Kentucky and I couldn't contact them and they would be there Wednesday the 24th then told Wednesday they would be back the 25th. Called the 29th and was told they were in Kentucky and couldn't contact them. The business was under new ownership they didn't have to honor it and that I should write a letter to old owner!!! This is ridiculous. Gift cards have a 5 year expiration date by law. Carriage House Inn needs to issue a apology and REFUND! I have no intentions of dropping this and I'm prepared to contact local TV stations and who ever else needs to be notified of their business practices. I found the phone number of the old owner ***** *****, called her on Monday the 29th and was told to call back later that she was on the road! The whole situation is ridiculous. I am a retired business owner and I would NEVER have treated my customers in this manner.Business response

The guest did bring a certificate. We do have it. It seems someone has crossed out the date on the gift certificate. The front desk agent did not honor that price due to that. We do have it and can provide it for proof. The amount on her receipt, as the consumer claims, is not what the amount is. We have original copies of the old gift certificates handed out and they do not say that there will be $200 credit, only a free room. I can provide that too.
