I bought a 1972 vw super beetle and took it to Walt’s for an idling issue I explained that I wanted to do whatever it needed because i am planning on driving it regularly.They had my car for about a three days and called said it was ready and good to go, I ask if they could inspect the car because I needed to get it licensed. They told me they could and they were there till 5:30 and to pick it up by then. I get there and they have a list of things wrong and say it won’t pass inspection. I was going to trailer it home and they acted unsure if I should drive it. We came back a few days later to pick it up paid the bill and left. The car didn’t make it a block it was doing the exact same thing it was doing when I dropped it off. When we called they ask us if it had gas. Then sent someone to look at it then eventually towed it back. The issue I had wasn’t fixed I don’t think they even test drove it. They acted like it was an inconvenience to explain to me what was wrong with it and like they really didn’t want to work on it. I was so upset with the experience I had with them. He did end up replacing the fuel pump and charged me for the part and half the labor but I also paid 200 dollars for the initial visit which I’m convinced they didn’t even test drive it. I would recommend anyone considering where to take their vw go to ***** ******** I took my vw over there immediately after leaving **** it was still having issues and I needed another opinion for the repairs the car still needed and they have been so helpful and have had exceptionally good customer service……I just picked up my car and was informed the fuel pump they put on was used and for ever part they put on they charged over 4x what it actually cost. I can’t say enough just go to ***** *******. Walt’s is a joke and ******* is a *****. Then he calls me after my review to scream and cuss at me and call me names like a child instead of a business owner.Business response

If you are going to make false statements I will be contacting my lawyer about this slander and defamation. We never put used parts on your car and we have the receipts to prove that. My parts manager ordered the part from ********** the same day we installed it on your car. My oldest and most experienced mechanic installed it on your car even after your boyfriend told him never to touch the car again. The same day we
resolved the dying issue you picked it up and thanked me. I have your old part in my hand and 5 people that can testify that we put a brand new part with a warranty on your car. The pictures you have been sharing aren’t even of the part we replaced. You are spreading false information about my business that isn’t true. Not only did I tow your car back to the shop for free after your boyfriend cussed at several of my employees I also covered several hours of labor diagnosing your intermittently bad fuel pump. I went above and beyond that and cleaned out your in tank fuel screen to make sure there weren’t further problems. The first thing we did with your vehicle was a basic valve adjust and tune up to fix the rough idle. We drove your car three different times and the fuel pump was working. When you have a part intermittently working it makes it very difficult to diagnose as bad if it’s working okay while your testing it. The reason my mechanic did not drive your car very long is because your steering gear is unsafe and your brake hoses aren’t street legal. So to have you go on all my business pages and recommend ***** ******* after I covered several hundred dollars in services is totally unfair. ***** ******* is my competitor and your association with him is a conflict of interest alone in itself. I will start with the initial action of having my lawyer send a letter to the address we have on file. If you do not remove the false statements you have made I will be movingt to the next step of legal action.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
The response from the owner is inaccurate I walked out to my car and took a photo of the part he replaced and in the photo you can see the red paint of the outer body of my car. I do not know anyone at ***** ******* I know they showed me my part and what a new part looks like and there is a big difference. It’s not a conflict of interest that I received better service at your competitor that is your fault. This shop took advantage of me. I will not be removing my response. I feel like I was taken advantage of. I feel like regardless of the situation no business owner should call a customer and speak to them they way I was spoken to. I will continue to tell people about the experience I had so that no one in the future has to deal with that situation.
