I used STL Concrete Contractors to pour a patio in my backyard. The patio has several locations where the concrete is crumbling and discolored. I filed a formal warranty claim in April 2023 and an agreement was made that if the discoloration hadn't resolved by July 2023 that the issue would be fixed under warranty. It has been almost a year now with at least 5 dates on which they were supposed to show up to fix the issue and they have not shown up with no prior communication. I'm unable to get a return call from the owner, ***************************. I want the issue fixed or compensation equal to the cost of the fix.Initial Complaint

Driveway replacement and stamped concrete patio. I spoke with them in mid July and did a down payment of $5513.06 on July 25th. Quoted the end of August to do the work and in mid November it still has not been completed. I just want my project completed but there is a new excuse every time you contact them. Soon the weather will make it so this cannot be completed until spring or ever. Be careful when dealing with these guys,Customer response

Signed a contract on 07/09/2023 for concrete work.Paid 1/3 of quoted price ($2495.71) on 07/10/2023. (******** came by to pick up check - said they were having problems getting mail delivered)Called a few months later to inquire when work would be done.Was told to call ******************* to find out where I was at on schedule.He said they would review schedule and get back to me. (Never did)Exchanged several text messages back and forth but never got a scheduled work date.On 10/3/2023 and 10/24/2023 I sent text requesting refund of deposit. Signed a contract on 07/10/2023 for concrete work.Paid 1/3 of quoted price (*******) on 07/16/2023.Called a few months later to inquire when work would be done.Was told they would review schedule and get back to me. (no one did)Called and texted several times and was even given a date that work would be done. On that date, the estimator came by to review the quote and said work would be done later that day. I contacted STL Concrete for driveway replacement. *** from *** Concrete came out and gave us a bid. I thought about the bid and paid a deposit of $3,681.23 on 6/21/23 to ******** from STL Concrete. When I hadn't heard about a date for the work to be done, I called ******** and she left a message saying the work would be done in August. When the work wasn't done in August, I called in September. I got a call back from *** from STL Concrete in September saying that the work would be done the last week of September or the first week of October. Now that October is almost over, I called *** on 10/20/23 asking for an update. I then emailed *** from STL Concrete asking for a refund on 10/25/23. I then called ******** today, 10/27/23, asking for a refund. So far I have not heard back from anyone at STL Concrete.Customer response

contract entered on 6/20/23 to replace drive way. work was to begin two weeks after initial deposit per ******** which was made on 6/21.23 and cleared the credit card. Several phone calls and conversations have been done with a promise to start but no work has been started and at this time would like a refund of the deposit. Phone call received on 8/16/23 from *** that assured us work would begin by the end of that week but still no work has been started. An email was sent on 8/31/23 requesting a refund of the deposit. On June 3, 2023 a down payment of $1785 for concrete work to be completed at **** ********** *****, St. Louis, MO. 63121 was given to ******** ****** from STL Concrete Contactors. I was guaranteed it would be done . After months of calling, sending emails and leaving voice messages the job hasn't completed. Several years ago an email was sent requesting a refund and no one from the company has responded. I am requesting a refund and compensation for the additional damaged that has been caused due to this delay.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:
I have contacted the office several times and left voicemails and no response was received until on 8/14/2023 when I received a voicemail from *** ***** at 6:41pm in the evening. The call was returned to him on 8/15/2023 and during the discussion with ***, I was told that I am in a legal binding contract and couldn't get a refund for the deposit and he would have the owner of Stl Concrete Contractors give me a call about the issue. No one has called me since to discuss this issue.As a consumer, since I am not able to receive a refund, I deserve a discount as compensation for the time that it has taken to get the concrete job completed because I was initially told by ******** ****** that the concrete would be completed by the end June 2023. Also due to this delay I have had to pay $1500 get the wall in my basement repaired. Initially when I spoke with Stl Concrete Contractors I told them that was pertinent that the concrete completed so that no damage would be done to my basement and they agreed that it would be done. Also, the company contractor told me that he would install a channel drain and 35 pipe with pop(this is listed on the contract) so that I wouldn’t have any water issues. The job hasn’t been completed, no one called to set a date or time as to what could be done.
Furthermore, this isn’t a legal dispute, it’s a job that a consumer has given a deposit to be completed and since this job hasn’t been completed the consumer should be offered a discount off the bill as compensation for the delay and issues that this delay may have caused.

This business collected $1,986.85 as a check for downpayment of a concrete driveway project. *** (estimator) said the project is scheduled around mid-June to start, but as the time passes, ****** (owner) said they need 1-2 more weeks. After some back and forth, he gave an exact date, however no show. Then he said he needs 1-2 more weeks again and gave a firm date, and even confirmed the crew will be here at 8am the day before. But no show again. Then he said he will refund me the down payment. I called and texted, but have not heard back about when he is going to refund me since.
