On May 14th I received a warning letter stated “On 5/4/2022, the following was noted: you need to cut the grass. This is not in compliance with restriction(s) within your community's governing documents.” I sent an email asking what restriction was not in compliance. I pointed out if it was for height it was not close to being too tall and the common ground behind my fence that D.N.I. is responsible for is 2-3 times taller than my lawn. 2 months 17 emails, and a few non returned phone calls later, the common ground grass is now 31” tall and my violation had been for (grass cutting) At this point without receiving response for a while, I went to the D.N.I office on 7/14 and met ********* ***** for clarification on what my violation was. I was told my grass was over 8”. I pointed out in my time stamped pictures the striping was still visible. I showed how tall 8” actually is. I explained I had cut it 6 days prior to 3 3/4” and tall fescue only grows 2” per week in the peak spring growing season. This would make it 5 3/4” max. I have showed that in the picture she took the concrete of the sewer is 4 7/8” thick and could be used as a reference point to see the lawn is clearly not 8”. I showed all the dates I have footage of me cutting the grass since early May averaging 4.93 days between cuts. The response majority of the time was just a repeated “it was over 8” when I came by on the 4th” and an occasional “can I help with something else”. She is very confident my lawn was over 8” from her visual I selection from inside her car, despite any evidence I supplied otherwise. I brought up that the area behind my fence hasn’t been cut and it’s been 2 months despite being told 4 times over the last month it is a priority and would be taken care of. ********* told me per Jefferson county code it didn’t need to be cut until it was over 48”. When I Informed her it was 20” she said I was wrong and the county was lying to me.
