I signed up for a membership on February 7,2024. I visited the Florissant location a few times and I decided that this wasn't for me. I decided to cancel my membership on February 16, 2024. I was still billed on February 21, 2024. I should not still be getting billed for a membership that i am not using. This is exactly why I dont like gyms. They are riping people off. I am no longer using the gym so you should not be taking my money.Business response

Hello,
Per our membership agreement, memberships must be cancelled on or before the 10th of the month, to avoid being billed for the current month. It would have been impossible to stop a pending charge on the 16th, when the payment is processed on the 17th.
I did, however, process a refund for ********. I made contact via email as well.

On Tuesday, 8/1/2023, Planet Fitness withdrew an amount of $42.51 from my checking account resulting in an overdraft fee of $27.50 to my account. While I'm aware that there's an annual fee to be charged, one would think that before anything is taken from anyone's personal accounts Planet Fitness would notify you to ensure sufficient funds are available. Also, it would be more professional to take the fee at the same time each year. When I first joined the club in 2020, I was told my annual fee would be deducted in June of that year. I'm a Black Card member & yes, I do have the app downloaded on my phone however, there's no mention of when the annual fee is going to be taken. There's only the monthly fee information along with the next billing date, this UNEXPECTED transaction put me in a bind by causing my account to go negative & as a result I was hit with a $27.50 overdraft fee. Had I known when this transaction would happen, I could've either changed the payment method or transferred more funds to that account. I'm asking that I be refunded the $27.50 overdraft fee that was charged to my account.Business response

We are sorry to hear the annual fee caused an overdraft fee on the members account. Our club manager will attempt to contact the member in the morning to attempt to assist. Occasionally if we refund the annual fee back to the account the bank will waive the overdraft fee. We would charge the fee next month.
Upon joining in 2020 the member received a copy of the membership agreement stating the monthly dues would be deducted on the 17th of every month and the annual fee billed every August 1 until the membership is canceled. This annual fee has been billed to the member on August 1 in 2020,2021,2022, and 2023. Planet Fitness charges the monthly dues on the 17th of every month so that our members are aware of the billing date. As mentioned above the annual fee for the member is also the same date each year on 8/1.
Again we apologize for the inconvenience and the club manager will be contacting the member in the morning.
