I was driving through Forsyth, Mo when I noticed I had a tire going low, so I looked for a place to get it fixed, and luckily I was just down the street from The Tire Crew shop on Hwy 160. So I pulled in there to get it fixed. The mechanic looked at it and said the tire was dry rotted too bad and I would have to have the spare put on. So he pulled it into the shop, and then told me that the right front brake, which was where the flat was, was locked up and the only way to fix it was to replace the caliper. So after some discussion, I reluctantly let him replace the caliper, for $140.00 cost that was unexpected. Anyway, about a month later I drove the truck to get supplies, and when I got back home I pushed on the brake and heard a grinding sound coming from the right front, that sounded like metal on metal. I pulled the truck into the yard, jacked it up and pulled the wheel off and discovered that the two bolts that held the caliper on, had came loose and worked out, and was letting the caliper rub against the rim of the tire, and that was what was making the grinding sound. So, I called and talked to the manager, and he wanted me to drive the truck 35 miles to his shop so the could fix it, We discussed the situation, and I told him I did not feel safe driving it like it was all that way on a hilly, curvy Hwy 160 east of Kissee Mills, with a loose caliper that could cause me to have a wreck or kill someone. He suggested I try and use some Locktite thread lock on it and I told him I did not have any. As it stands right now, he will only fix it if I bring it in to his shop. I feel it is HIS responsibility to fix the situation, at his cost, and not just cobble a fix together. This kind of business attitude is not in keeping with the standards of this area, and he seems quite content to get off as cheap as he can, and I am the one who is taking all the risks, by having to drive a vehicle with faulty brakes 35 miles to his shop because he is too lazy to come over here.
