I entered into a contract for roofing and siding on a hunting building on my property in October of 22. Work started in November with the roofing and siding being completed, however the trim around the door was not done. I paid ******* for the work expecting the door trim to be completed soon after. Christmas came and the new year with no work being done. I contacted the owner, who is a physical neighbor that I have to drive past every day, to inquire about the work. He came took measurements and implied that he would do the work himself. He never returned. I have called and left messages. I have sent texts. I texted in August and the owner responded that the rain had put them behind 2 weeks. I tested in September that it had been a month since they had been behind 2 weeks and still no work. It's been almost a year and the job is still not complete. They have sent me a couple of survey requests for me complete about their work, but I have not wanted to be negative because the owner is a neighbor. I just want the job to be completed. The work they did was fine, they just haven't finished. You pay your neighbor for a job and expect to have it finished in less than a year.Business response

Hodges Roofing has completed the work regarding this complaint. I never had a problem with the quality of the work and would recommend them. My problem was always about the timeliness of the work. The work was finished in less than an hour, but it took a year and a complaint to the BBB to get the work done. The owner really is a neighbor and I would use them again, I would just hold final payment until ALL work was completed.Initial Complaint

I hired this company on August 29th, 2023. I paid them a little over $2000. It has been difficult to reach them since. The only other contact I have had with them is through my brother**;s cell phone. They were to replace a small roof on a building on my property. There was start on the contract. The full amount would be $4025 for the completed roof. Since the contract was signed, I haven**;t been able to speak to any one and no one from the company has contacted me.Customer response

We contracted with Hodges to replace and install 3 exterior doors and 1 storm/screen door in March 2022. The company cashed the deposit check we wrote. I was assured regular updates on the project which happened for a few months but by August 2022 I had to start chasing them for updates. The response on the updates was that the doors weren't in yet, which was believable considering current supply issues. When I called again at the beginning of November 2022 I was told the doors were in and we would be scheduled for install by the end of the month. I didn't hear from them so called after Thanksgiving and got a voicemail that said they were closed November 25, 2022 returning January 6, 2023 and encouraging the caller to leave a message. I requested a callback and did receive one from ***, the owner's daughter, who said no one was available to do scheduling. I said I expected to hear from them on their return in January. I did not hear from the company so called January 11, got the same voicemail, and requested a callback. I received no call so called every business day through the 18th requesting a callback. I followed up with emails on the 16th and 18th using the email string that apprised us of the project status. I was clear in my messages on the 18th that I expected a callback by end of business on the 20th and failing to hear from them would file a formal complaint against the company.Business response

I have contacted her to finish the job. The weather has been an issue as well as getting the materials needed for the job. The type of job we are doing for her requires special materials and certain workers to complete it. We had shut down in December and part of January and made all customers aware of this on our office phone line so we thought she was also aware that we were closed due to the extremely cold weather. Since their may have been communication issues we will certainly finish the job we started for her.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference tocomplaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I do hope that on the next rating for this business you do take into account the communication issue. We were told we'd be scheduled for the job at the end of November, they closed down with no warning that they would do so, and their return date on their voicemail was not in line with their actual return. Had a large shed resided. Wanted it to match the house. I have in a text where **** Hodges reassured me that the color ******** was being ordered, NOT the color "Sandstone". I was not home when this work was done. They still put "sandstone" on the shed. The siding is labeled "Sandstone". It doesn't match the house AT ALL NOT EVEN CLOSE. I painted for a living for 15 years, you just can't decide what color to install, when it's not what the client wants. I was in ****** when this job was finished, so I couldn't complain within his 5 days.Business response

Dear Mr. and *************,
We are not disputing that you reached out to **** Hodges via text message. However, color changes are done via contract revision through our office, as unofficial channels such as text message may not be shared with production in sufficient time to ensure changes with material orders and crew instructions. Specifically, as the attached copy of our contract reads: "All change orders shall be in writing and signed by both Customer and Contractor."
We regret that you are disappointed with the resulting color installed on your garage, but we do wish you would have reached out to us during the day of installation, for which you were present.
Due to your dissatisfaction with the result, we will reside your garage with the color preference of your choosing and bear the cost of the work and materials. Please confirm which color you would like and allow the time for us to order and receive the materials. We will proceed to reside your garage as weather and crew scheduling permits.
If this is acceptable, please contact us via email and confirm.

The date of the transaction was February, 2019. I paid 6,390.00 dollars for the work. I noticed the the siding separating from the house around the end of 2020. I do not know when the actual event occured. I began calling in 2020. My letter to hodge, which I mailed to his house 0n 11-30-2021, was never acknowleged. This began as a simple problem which could have been corrected by a experienced applicator in short amount of time. I also have two pieces of siding that are cracked that need to be replaced. I do not know if this was caused by faulty and defective siding or my negligence. I offered to pay to fix this. There are other places on the house, in my humble opinion, that seem to be shoddy workmanship. I have been to the office, left messages, and wrote Mr. ****** a letter which have I forwarded to you. I have received one response, stated in my letter, but no action on my concern. It is frustrating to deal with a company that does not return calls and does not back up thier work. An acknowledgement one way or another would be appreciated. I will hire another company to fix his work if that is the only solution to this problem. The communication in this company is nonexistent. Not responding to concerns of customers, shoddy workmanship is unacceptable under any circumstances. What started off as a simple repair has now evolved into a much larger issue of the credibility of Mr. ****** and his staff.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:-they called and gave us no notice they were coming; they were going to bring a crew in this weather.
-I did meet with them (his son) to assess the building and we did find more damage.
-I want a date set in the future, when the weather has cleared, that the workd can be scheduled.
-I want a written punch list of the work that will be done.

Had a horrible experience. 6 weeks after a consultation and deposit to discover the material we wanted wasn’t available. Three more weeks and several “the check is in the mail” lies from Greg Hodges. Now the check bounced and he is conveniently unavailable Please think twice before dealing with this thief.Business response

This issue has been resolved. the Homeowner was given cash handed directly to them in the exact amount of the original check amount as well as a gift card.We apologize that we were unable to start the project in a timely manor due to unavailable materials causing homeowner to cancel contact and deposit being refunded.Customer response
