The electrician quoted us for a job and said we need to sign the quote so he could order the materials. I signed and sent it back to him. I did notice he quoted us for 8 hours of work. He came to our house the 1st day to let us know what needed to be done before he could get started. The 2nd day he came was to drop off some materials. The 3rd time he came he did so knowing he did not have all of the materials yet to finish the job so he guaranteed he would have to come back a 4th time. He came back the 4th time and finished the job but he did not do it the way we agreed upon originally nor did he let us know he was changing the plan. He sent me the invoice again and I noticed he was charging us for 8 hours still even though he was only on our property for a total of 2.5 hours. He says he charges an hour each time he has to come to the property and the rest is to cover gas, insurance etc. He never stated that he was going to charge for a full hour each time he came.Business response

Iconic Electric received a request for a "free estimate" for **** * *** ****** on Aug 4, on Aug 5th their estimate was performed and estimated email "is attached." I explained to her in person, text and email that I was charging out 1 day's labor for their installation due to having to perform multiple days work (Stages) due to their retaining wall relocation and "no down payment was required, due upon completion." Contract was signed on the 6th, Iconic Electric purchased materials on Aug. 10th. All materials were in possession by Aug. 14th other than a pool skimmer grounding kit, which I spoke with her husband on the phone and verbally told them that it was ordered and was being delivered. I headed to their property at 1:30 pm on Aug 14 to begin work as scheduled. I grabbed materials and went to back yard to see that zero work had been performed by the carpenter, the husband came out and spoke with me stating "The carpenter wanted more information from me before performing his work." I told them I would safe end the existing electric and I left a 2:00 pm (30 minutes). The home owners said that the section of retaining wall would be removed on Aug 16 and that I could come back on the 17th to perform my work, which I agreed to Aug. 17. I head their way at 3 pm and arrive once again to see that zero work had been performed. The excuse this time was that the carpenter was afraid that the depth of water in the pool would be an issue and that it needed to be drained (Attached in documents is highlighted area of the homeowner apologizing for all of the delays, also in documents is explanation of the pool needing to be drained), I left at 3:45 pm (45 min).
I arrived on Aug 23rd at 1:30 pm able to perform my work and left at 4 pm (2.5 h); I removed the remaining existing box and conduit, installed a 12x12 quazoid box, installed conduit to the location of a new decorative electrical garden post, installed new post, and back filled quazoid box.
I arrived again on Aug 30 at 8 am with an apprentice to pull wire, install gfi and bubble cover, terminate and get power back on to pool equipment, installed ground rod, and grounding wire; we left at 9 am (2 hr.). On Aug. 31 the pool grounding kit arrived at the supply house, I picked it up drove to their house and installed it (1h). This completed the job 100% and I had charged out for 6hr 45 min. This time did not include answering 5 phone calls, 1 of which was 8:30 pm on a Saturday.
I answered every single call, text and email that I received from the homeowners, not once did I ignore, disrespect, get angry or not show up when I said I would show up. I cooperated with every issue they had. I did not require a down payment or any form of payment till completion and they agreed to pay at day of completion. They did not answer the door or my calls for payment. ******* finally returned my text when I gave her a courtesy call to inform her of the late fees charges about to begin.
I also pointed out to her that with the discount I gave them on labor for being local that it was only 7 hrs charged out, not 8 hrs. The homeowners are wanting work done for free and I'm not budging.
In all with the correspondence I have had with them and their chatter on the job, I actually have almost 10 hours wrapped up in the entire project.
Please feel free to contact me again on the issue if needed.
