My wife *** and I entered into a signed contract with ***** ****** on 10/30/2021 for him to construct a 12x12 cedar pool deck to include stairs with a lockable gate and cable railing. We provided two upfront payments for materials; one in the form of a personal check for $3600.00 on 10/30/2021 that was cashed on 10/31/2021 and another via ******* for $700.00 on 11/28/2021. The remaining balance of $1900.00 was agreed upon per contract to be paid on completion of promised work. He came over and sunk 4 posts, then we never saw him in person again. When I would reach out I would get excuse after excuse from broken down vehicles to dealing with COVID issues multiple times. I heard a few times he was on his way over only to never show up. Back on May 19th I sent him a letter via his business email requesting our money back ($3600.00) less the work he did with the 4 posts. I felt letting him keep $700.00 of the $4300.00 was generous. I heard from back on June 8th that he would pay us back but it would not be until the 3rd week of July. I even offered to let him pay us back in installments. I heard nothing back from him even though I would reach out asking him if he had an idea of when he would pay us back. I tried to call him the last couple days it says the number you have reached is out of service. I understand tough times but he stole my wife’s retirement bonus she received from teaching 28 years at **** **** School District. Honestly I don’t understand how anyone sleeps at night stealing like this from hard working folks. I save off the contract from ***** and it masked all the info which makes it look more shady. I have included attached documents for signed contract, cancelled check, confirmation from ******* as well as the 4 post ad only work he did. I did the landscaping in preparation. I also have texted messages with excuse after excuse. Thank you for your assistance in getting our money refunded back to us. ***** *** *** ********
