Truman has continued to go after me through credit agencies and hurting my credit because of a bill that debt me for $614. I do not write Truman any money, there was no service provided, I did not see a doctor and Truman can't charge me $614 just because I checked in signing my name. No service was provided, I did not see a doctor and I did not sign any papers.

This was an issue with an unfortunate glitch in our system that impacted old accounts and made it look like they owed something.  It has been fixed and her encounter is at a zero balance with nothing owed and no impact to any credit reporting agency.  We did call the patient to explain this and apologize for the system issue.

On July 20, 2022, I had an appointment with Truman's hematology department because I was having a colonoscopy that afternoon, and they handle my bleeding disorder. I gave them both my ******** and ****** ****** **** cards. On Aug 16, I got my ******** summary saying that they had paid their portion of this visit, but I never got a summary from ***. Now I get a collection agency notice that I owe $60.26. I contacted them saying it's not my fault that *** was not filed & they said they would check but that I would owe the money. I then called Truman & was told that they cannot pull up records that have been sent to a collection agency. I'm a senior & can't believe that I'm having a collection agency after me because Truman is too lazy to do their job! I do not want to hear from this agency again! Thank you.

We looked into this matter and found that there was a problem where the collection agency did not load the patient's *** insurance even though it had been provided by the patient.  This has been fixed, the account has been sent to *** and we reached out to the patient to inform them of this resolution.

Truman has charged me 4000$for the er after an auto accident, and I have healthnet mo as a insurance carrier. Which covers me for the last year of medical. I'm getting a settlement for a broken foot and when Truman discovered this they put a lien on my settlement. But prior to that I received a zero balance for the er visit and I have the original reciept stating I owe them nothing. This is unethical . They can't change my account out of good standing to get 4000$ just bc they hear I'm getting a little bit of cash. In essence I'm being double charged and they are frauding the government who has paid them. But I can't get to my money bc I refuse to pay twice for one visit. I have receipts to show all my bills were cleared plus the original 4000$ they liened on me for. They are greedy crooks. My bill is paid period but they want more money. Greedy is all I can say. If you can't help is there a lawyer or government agency that can help me take on this.?

I believe the issue around Ms. *****’s compliant are due to the ways auto accident claims are processed.

She is correct that she has Medicaid, however, as she states, her visits were tied to a motor vehicle accident.  Medicaid is always the payor of last resort, and as such, auto insurance was loaded as the patient’s primary insurance, with Medicaid secondary, for those visits.  In situations like this, the patient will receive statements that show the charges, however, the patient responsibility will show as zero until the payors process the claim and determine if the patient will have any balance due thereafter.  That is what happened here and I can see how this could be confusing because the statement would have all the charges. and while it would also show a patient responsibility of zero, that is easy to miss when seeing the large dollars.

The good news is that this appears to be resolved or will be by week’s end.  A settlement was reached between Truman Medical Center and the auto-insurance carrier on 11/17.  A check was sent over on 11/22, but due to the holiday, did not make it to our lockbox until the end of last week.  It is being cashed and it will post to the patient’s accounts, zeroing all three of her motor vehicle accident related encounters resolving the matter.

We do sincerely apologize for any anger, frustration and confusion this may have caused as that was not our intent.  We are always looking for ways to improve our processes and will use this as an example in reviewing our statement layouts to ensure we’re conveying the proper information to the recipient.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns,
