On December 30, 2021, Great Day moving moved me from my one bedroom apartment into a storage unit. Everything was in the living room packed and ready to go upon their arrival. I had all of my shoe boxes (well over 60-70) stacked up which one of the movers made a comment on the amount of tennis shoes I had. They used a dolly to take them from the apartment to the truck and the same dolly from the truck to the unit. The shoe boxes were loaded in first at the very back of the storage unit therefore after the move was completed I could not see the boxes at all. A year later when I moved from the storage facility, while putting my shoes up I noticed at least 3 pairs of exclusive Jordans were missing. No one had access to my storage during this time, and I moved all of the boxes from the storage myself using my personal vehicle. The movers knew I wouldn’t be able to see the boxes and would not notice any missing until I moved out of the storage. The complaint comes over a year later because I didn’t move out of the storage until December 29, 2022 after being gone for a year serving my country in Kuwait. I contacted the moving company and was told they would reach out to the owner operator and try to conduct an investigation. It has been two weeks and I have not heard from the operator or the headquarters. I am seeking the value of my missing shoes in return. I was outraged to learn my shoes had been stolen and the two movers are the only two that had access to my shoes and not in my presence. While moving them from the apartment they could have easily put the shoes in the cab of the moving truck. I was guarantee a quality of service that I did not receive. Meanwhile I was violated in the process. Therefore, I’m looking for total compensation if my missing sneakers.Business response

First of all, I never received a first notice for this complaint via email. Or I would have responded sooner/within the 10 day timeframe. I was headed out of town on 1/26 when I received the first complaint email.
When our team completed the moving job on 12/30/21, the customer paid for services rendered and that is when our liability ended. We unloaded customer's belongings into their storage unit, accepted payment and our team left the premises. At that time, liability ended since the company was no longer in possession of customer's belongings.
