FCI-Show Me met my deadline. Which was a huge challenge in a global pandemic which had supply chain issues and labor issues. However, if did not affect them. FCI made it happen and it saved me money. I was able to open on time and start generating revenue for my business. The amazing work and quality was a huge bonus as well. Great people.

I cannot say enough good things about Floor Covering International Show Me and **** and *****. With all my contracting delays due to an unforeseen water damage just prior to installation, they could not have been more patient, caring and helpful with me in the months that followed until installation could finally be achieved. I highly recommend Floor Coverings International Show Me to anyone who is looking a great flooring company to work with.

I definitely have not had a good experience with this company. **** the owner came out and looked at the hardwood floor work we want to do, and I specifically pointed out a broken board that runs along the edge of the hardwood flooring at the kitchen involving one board (8'x3") that had some damage along outer edge, in about a 6 ft section of it. He indicated that board, or at least the damaged section of that board would have to be removed and replaced. We received an estimate by email a day later that said, "Refinishing with Dust Minimization Process / MOBFWDMP", for $1,187.50. There was no mention of the removal and replacement of the damaged board. I sent an email asking for a detailed and understandable description of the work to be done and a breakdown of the costs involved (labor, materials and supplies) and what was going to be done for that price (did this include the repair work and materials or not?) I received a new quote "Refinishing with Dust Minimization Process-sand, stain, & refinish 2 hallways with water based finish / MOBFWDMP Install solid hardwood plank near kitchen/hallway where current one is damaged. / LABC1047"at an estimated cost of $1,727.23, an increase of $539.73 over the first estimate for what was supposed to be for the same job as discussed during the estimate visit. I emailed again and expressed my concerns about this drastic increase in the estimate and what is now being considered additional work and materials of the project and the recent increases in the cost of fuel and materials. I sent another email asking why this was considered additional work and materials when the estimator was given all the concerns and details of the job on the initial visit. Finally after over two weeks and two phone calls from me, they sent an email that indicated they would now provide an updated estimate that would be even higher if I still wanted to use their services. I informed them I would not be using their services.

Mr. ****, It was unfortunate that we were not able to agree on an estimate to repair and refinish your floor or do any work for you. As you indicated, our original proposal did not include the repair of the 8 foot board prior to refinishing of the floor. When you noted that was missing on the estimate/proposal, we included the cost of repair of the floor in the second quote. It was higher as the scope of work had changed. It was also higher as the prices of fuel and other goods is increasing at a rapid rate. We have a minimum charge for doing repairs- whether a single board or several square feet of replacement. It still takes up our installer's time to do even what seems to a homeowner might be a minor repair. Therefore, the quote needed to be increased, obviously more than what you were expecting. You had initially told us, that you had another company that was going to do the work, and you were not interested in our services, but then several weeks later you called saying, "They didn't pan out." We were hoping we could have gotten to an acceptable solution, but in the end, it was in both our best interests not to pursue further. We wish you the very best. You have a beautiful home, and getting your floors refinished will be an excellent addition to your home.

************, It was unfortunate that we were not able to agree on an estimate to ******************* your floor or do any work for you. As you indicated, our original proposal did not include the repair of the 8 foot board prior to refinishing of the floor.Even though your estimator (Owner) was told about the need to include this repair/replacement in the estimate and the area needing repairs was specifically pointed out to him during his initial visit. At no point during this visit did he indicate the estimate he was going to be sending would only include the sanding and refinishing and not the repairs. My fear is that once the contract was signed and the work was started, the additional charges for the repairs would have been brought up and I would have had little choice but to pay it, no matter how exorbitant it was, or have to pay for whatever work was done, possibly the whole amount, and then have to find someone else to do the job and pay them as well. When you noted that was missing on the estimate/proposal, we included the cost of repair of the floor in the second quote. It was higher as the scope of work had changed. But the scope of work had not changed, as far as we were concerned, as this was part of the job we were seeking an estimate for in the first place. We never indicated anything but the entire job of repairing / replacing the problem board and sanding and refinishing the whole hardwood floor area. The $500+ increase to replace ONE <8 x **** x **** board would seem a bit excessive to anyone. I offered to buy the individual board for you rather than have you buy a bundle of boards to get that one board. I would own the remaining boards, but why would I want to have a bundle of boards (-1) to have to store or have to try to sell or otherwise dispose of? The labor for the replacement of ONE board, even at $50-$100/hr would still not amount to $500+. For a 1 maybe 2 hour job. I could do it in less time and likely just as well. I was trying to hire a professional to do the job so I wouldnt have to worry about it.It was also higher as the prices of fuel As I explained the differience in fuel cost from the cost of gas when your estimate was sent initially and now would amount to less than $32 for the 4 (60 mile round trips to my house from your offices) 240 miles at $2.89/gallon vs. $4.89/gallon with even a 15mpg vehicle would be 16 gallons for all 4 trips, so with the cost of gas going up by $2/gallon that is $32 dollars more for gas, not $500+So even with the one board and $32 in gas this should never have been close to a $500+ increase in the cost of this job.and other goods is increasing at a rapid rate. When I tried to reason with you about this, your response was to (threaten) indicate that any future estimate for this same job would be even higher. We have a minimum charge for doing repairs- whether a single board or several square feet of replacement. It still takes up our installer's time to do even what seems to a homeowner might be a minor repair. Therefore, the quote needed to be increased, obviously more than what you were expecting. You had initially told us, that you had another company that was going to do the work, and you were not interested in our services, but then several weeks later you called saying, "They didn't pan out."They didnt pan out because they tried to pull the same thing, coming out for an estimate, being told and specifically shown the problem areas in the floor and sending an estimate for Sanding and Refinishing only. When questioned about the repairs to the ONE board, they sent a Higher Estimate ($480+) because they would have to buy a bundle of boards to get the ONE board to do the repairs. When I questioned this they told me that if I wouldnt pay the increased price for the job that they had been called out to provide an estimate for (just as you had), they refuse the job.We were hoping we could have gotten to an acceptable solution, (your version of an acceptable solution was for me to pay whatever price you wanted to put on the job and any increases you felt you wanted to add as time went on.)but in the end, it was in both our best interests not to pursue further. Before I ended up paying close to $2000, for less than 200 sqft of sanding and refinishing and the replacement of ONE board We wish you the very best. I hope you and your company will be successful as well and I would encourage you to present estimates for the total job requested by the customer and I would encourage you to itemize the sanding refinishing options like, oil base vs water base finishes (noting the difference in drying times and quality and care requirements of the finished product) and any repairs or replacements that are needed during your estimate visit and in the written estimate so the consumer know exactly what they are paying for and what their options are and dont try to **** up the price because of a arbitrary thing like the cost of gas. Do you drop the price if the cost of gas goes down by $2 a gallon? I doubt it.You have a beautiful home, and getting your floors refinished will be an excellent addition to your home. Thank you, thats why we are doing these final projects this year.
