Called companies phone number listed on internet. Have used company previously for door installment at a previous house and urgent repair to new house garage door 2 years ago. At that time owner came out on a holiday, spent 2 hours fixing badly damged garage dooe and charged 450$. On 09/06/23, owner called for service on one door and maintenance on the main door. He asked for a 79$ deposit and credit card information was given. The spring on one smaller door was broken off and guide wire mangled. The service tech came at 11:15am and left at 12:10. When doing maintenace on main door, noted that spring mechanism was broken. He did not have that part. Said he would leave and come back later. During the first hour, he reatached the spring on the smaller door and hooked up guide wires to pulleys. He lubricarted the door. On the large door, he adjusted one roller that was coming off and lubricated the rest. He came back at 4 pm. He spent 15 minutes replacing this spring on the main door. He then charges 1000$ and gave a small discount for being a previous customer. When owner called he stated that the reason for this expense is that the spring cost for the main door was 700$ when it is listed on invoice for 100$. When I told him that the cost listed was 100$, he said that I will talk to my tech; he knows better not to put that on invoice. This is utter fraud and is dispicable. I mentioned that from 2 years ago work work was done by him on a badly loose and mangled door and more time was spent and the charge was 450$. He said he would give me a discount on a future door. I told them that we were needing new doors and we were looking at his website for a new door. He said, if you had mentioned that, I would not have told tech to change the spring that in his opinion cost 700$. Again, this is utter fraud, and this behaviour contiues with other customer as noted on your website of complaints.

The customer has a broken screen and parts and labor has gone up in price.  We put on high cycle on the screen.  We offered the customer a credit for what he paid which was $500 off for new doors.

I am rejecting this response because:

*************** to the companys owner who said prices have gone up. He charged roughly 800
Dollars for 75 minutes of work. A top-notch lawyer in downtown ********* charges 500$ per hour. This is
just outright theft. He didnt even tell me what his hourly rate is or what he would charge for the job. If
he had told me he would charge this much for the job, I would have rejected his offer. Again, this is utter
theft. I could have done the work myself if I had the right tools. Previous experience with this company
included 2 hours of work on an emergency basis on a holiday, with parts and labor costing 450$. One
would not think based on this that 800$ would be charged for 75 minutes of work. Again, this is utter
theft. Who in their right mind would do business with them even if they are offering a 500$ discount on
future doors. He offered the same discount when they fixed my door last time. How sad that people can
      get away with this.

      Sincerely,

I tried helping this particular customer over the phone several times.  He thought it fixed the problem over the phone so we didn't have to go to his home and charge fir services.  He thought it started working so I refunded the charge we take when scheduling an appt immediately.   However He called the next day having similar issues and chose to have a technician come put so I recharged him our fee and our employees went to him asap before another job.  This was the reason and the only reason three techs were at his location.  We only charged him our normal annual service fee nothing more they were together for thr next job which was a commercial application on a rather large door.  Customer didn't agree with pur pricing so we made a small dedication and per his request charged his ******** card.  Again we tried for two days helping him over the phone but since was not working put He chose to call for our services.  Unfortunately due to fuel, insurance and employee pay we can't just show up and fix for free.  We have to make money to stay in business.  I feel we went above and beyond trying to help him over the phone for free. Unfortunately he wasn't capable of making necessary adjustments to avoid a service call.  It was also his choice not to have us lube and make other balancing adjustments for that price but we still had to charge accordingly.  We already gave him a senior discount and I am sorry he feels the cost of doing business is too high.  We don't create fuel, insurance and other cost we just have to cover them.

This company installed a new patio door in July, 2020. My complaint concerns workmanship- please see attached photos- the strip of siding was cut and reattached in an unsightly fashion. Also I have noted siding to be damaged and cut too short- I noticed this after I had spoken to the owner about the side strip i spoke to the owner several times and was told the side strip was unavoidable due to the size of the door and he agreed to provide the labor to place a "J channel". I called 3-4 times and sent photos of this issue and owner said he would call in spring, 2021 to fix the issue. I called in June 2021 when I did not hear from him and was told he was with a customer and would call back, He never called back and I am doubtful without some assistance i will ever get a response. I will note it rained the afternoon and evening of the installation. I was never shown how the side strip was reattached nor did I look at it that night- if I had, I probably would have withheld part of my payment until it was resolved. As such I did not see it until later and began calling the business at that point. The issue of the siding damage is not a big concern but where the siding was cut short is and I believe this should also be addressed.

To the dispute center regarding above referenced complaint filed by ********* ********.  I have seen the photos and looked over our paperwork for this job.  We installed a patio door with the same size door that was removed for Ms. ********.  We loosen the siding and j channel to place door in its proper position.  Since we did not enlarge opening we would not have cut siding or j channel.  We only move it out of the way and place it back.  I truly believe some customers don't see problems until new work is done and then they focus on what's been that way all along.  It shows we tried caulking j channel into correct spot but as you are aware we cannot manipulate concrete where door sits.  Since we did not cut siding just moving it showed a small gap.  We were hired to install a patio door we loosen siding on almost all jobs (unless were dealing with hardy board or brick/stone) to do the best quality work.  It is unfortunate that this is showing up now and two years have passed.  We give all our work a 1 year labor warranty but that is on door install only.  I wish she could show me in a photo of the siding and j channel in question prior to our work being performed so I could prove to her our stance on this issue.

Please feel free to contact me if she has any other questions or concerns.  Until such time I am closing our file as I see no fault with actual workmanship.

      Sincerely,

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Please see attached photos: According to the contract of 7/6/2020, there is a two year warranty on labor not a year.

I cannot prove the condition of the siding prior to the install. I have, however, since shortly after the install been attempting to get the molding issue resolved. I may have included this in my original complaint I called shortly after the install, spoke to the owner  more than once and sent photos of the molding to the owner’s cell phone more than once. I was told he would install j channels to resolve this issue. On more than one occasion I was told I would be called back to set up and was not. Examples: I would be called when the weather was cooler, I would be called after the owner returned from vacation, I would be called back after the owner was finished working with a customer. This could have and should have been dealt with within a few months-

      Sincerely,

      ********* ********

      To Whom I May Concern:

In regards to the complaint from Mr. *******. His complaint is Not according to the facts. The fact is he stopped two employees from doing any further work St his residence. Therefore we pulled employees off site and charged Mr. ******* accordingly. He did pay his deposit with his credit card and stated upon completion. When he Stopped our employees from finishing job we used the card he gave us to pay for partial job we completed. He stated he would be using card even after we told him there is a 4% fee for using credit/debit cards. This is the cost we are charged for using there app. I truly believe he wants us to work for free. We already picked up extra doors to help him put at no additional charge and agreed to a flat rate when we normally charge hourly plus materials and products used. I will not be refunding Mr. *******. We did not charge him for work not performed only work completed. I have many texts of us going back and forth if he chooses either he can submit or I will didn't think two sets were necessary.

Thanks for your assistance in this matter.
