I have 2003 Jaguar and took it to this shop in March of this year. I had a receipt I provided from another mechanic that the valve body needed to be replaced. I'm now being told that other work needed to be done and I'm being charged for it. I'm being told the valve body is $6,5624.52, and $264.60 to program it, and the valve body is shouldn't be any more than $2,300. I'm being charged $523.06 for diagnostic testing and a negative cable. I did not need the cable because I had just replaced it prior to taking my car to his shop. I was also charged $179 to check the gear box, and he saw I had a gear box fault when I first brought the car in. I believe I'm being misinformed and charged for work that is not needed.

This vehicle came in with a dead battery and a broken battery cable. Once we charged the battery and replaced the cable and achieved proper power and grounds to all the modules our diagnostics could start to properly verify the transmission faults. We cannot rely on other shops diagnostics and will always perform our own to make sure that it was the correct diagnosis and in this case we needed have proper power and grounds to the transmission module. Once we verified power and grounds at the transmission valve body we then verified indeed it needed a new valve body.

The cost break down of the (NEW) valve body installed. Note - These valve bodies are married to the transmissions and cannot be reused from a used unit. They must be replaced with a new part.

New valve body from Jaguar - $5146.15, The filter is built into the transmission pan and requires a new pan and bolt kit - $572.43, ZF Full Synthetic transmission fluid - $149.94, Labor $756.00, Programming  $264.00.

Our check out included, initial check over, charging the battery, finding the broken end on the battery cable, scanning of all faults, performing all power and ground test per test plan data - $368.00

Remove and replace battery cable cost - Cable $40.00 Labor $69.81.

If Mr. ****** would like to pick up his vehicle, I will will approve a 1hr discount at 189.00. Total due is $317.58

              Thanks,

              Customer response

              07/12/2023

Consumer called and said the business wants me to pay for something that didn't have to be changed.  I have a brand new battery in it.  I contacted the other shops that I have had my car at and they say he is trying to get a mechanic's lien saying that I did not pick up the car.  I still have stuff in the car.

I took my 2009 BMW 335i to them on 12/22//2021 for a diagnostic. I authorized only 200.00 because my check engine light was on. Upon returning home after I picked up my car II noticed the smell of antifreeze. The cap was loose and lost about a gallon. several parts missing and an estimate for close to 8,000.00 for repair. There was a sensor broke, and multiple bolts missing. The repair on my car was 23.99. I fixed it. They also gave me no results of my diagnostic. Why did the remove all the parts, not put them back on. They did check my brakes. Nothing to do with the service I asked for. Please help with this fraudulent company. I also am asking for the 85.00 sensor they broke. The 1 gallon of antifreeze in a sealed jug. I do not trust them. Look at their, ratings on ***** ******. I do understand times are rough during this pandemis. But to intentionally rip customers off is horrible practice.
