I own a rental property that was damaged by water in December 2022. (No tenants at the time). My insurance company paid for the reconstruction and chose Going Green Restoration ("Going Green") for it.On or about July 27, 2023, Going Green sent me an invoice for $11,959.86. The invoice was approved for payment by my insurance. My insurance then wired $11,959.86 to me.On or about July 31, 2023, Going Green sent me wiring instructions via email requesting payment of the invoice. This email was sent from the same email address through which Going Green and I communicated throughout the duration of the restoration. I made payment in accordance with the instructions.Subsequently, Going Green informed me that their email had been hacked, and fraudulent wiring instructions were sent to me. As such, Going Green indicated that they did not receive my payment. Even though Going Green acknowledged that incorrect wiring instruction came from their email, it demanded that I send $11,959.86 again, essentially paying for their own security breach.On or about August 23, 2023, Going Green informed me that no police report would be filed regarding the security breach, but that a report to the Office of the Attorney General had been made. I have no evidence this is true.On or about September 8, 2023, Going Green demanded payment again, and through my real estate agent, threatened to file a lien on the property (that I am selling) if I did not pay $11,959.86 again.On or about September 15, 2023, my attorney sent a letter to Going Green indicating that I do not accept responsibility for their own data breach--particularly since there is no evidence of it, as per their refusal to file a police report. The letter also indicated that I am open to an amicable solution.Going Green has not responded as of October 12, 2023.I am trying to sell the home. I have received an offer. Going Green is not responding to my request to sign a lien waiver.I can document everything
