On 6/22 we started an add-on w/ a 2nd story room and deck, & new patio/kitchen w/ NYW properties. The contractor is ********************************** 6/3/22 initial estimate was $279,500. I paid 1/2 6/10/22. Since the start of the project several things have had to be redone. EX: The wrong stone veneer was placed & outdoor stairs had to be replaced as they were not up to code. He then requested we pay in full or he would not finish the job so I paid in full 8/19/22. He then came back two more times demanding significant amounts of money or he would cease all operations. I paid $60,718.20 on 10/13/22. I paid $57,860 on 12/20/22 because he tore out our fireplace & the cold & wind was getting into our house. He threatened to cease operations unless we paid. We have a daughter who was 17 months at the ********* brought up safety concerns so we paid. The project is $140,938.20 over budget, my family has paid $420,438.2 & the project is still not completed over a year in when he initially said it would be done Nov 22. Since we have conceded to his demands, he is very difficult to get a hold of to finish this project & will not give us a end date. Several things are still not finished or need to be redone. The mini split he installed in the add on never blew cold air. He said he would get someone over ASAP. I had to personally hire and pay an HVAC team to come out because he never scheduled anyone. I also hired my own electrician due to errors. There is water pooling around the patio against the foundation of the house & the support columns to the second story deck. This is causing erosion of the jointing sand & serious foundational concerns. We hired a structural engineer & have his report uploaded. He determined the pitch was incorrect & rec. replacing at a correct pitch. *********** fix was to add gutters. Then he tried to charge me for it after claiming I did work he was not aware of but was his idea. It failed, now he wants to drill holes in the new patio to allow water to escape.
