I hired Intex Group to replace my front H3333313132**32313136H porch of my house April 2023 , The porch is about 40 feet long by 7 feet deep with a bump out in the center about 10 feet wide . In that area the porch narrows to 4 feet wide with the entry door in the center of the bump out. About 2 and a half to three weeks after the porch was poured, the porch cracked in 2 places . One crack is off to the side and the other is right in front of the door . These cracks are shrinkage cracks that happen during the curing process . The one in front of the door is a blistering crack with several pieces starting to pop out. I called the owner, he said he would come by and look at them. He came by when I was not home. He said via text that he would come by and talk about how to fix the problem. After several text and calls to get him to meet me, he will not show up even when we set a day to meet. They tooled the joints only, no expansion strips or demo saw cuts where used. At first I was very happy with the H3333313132**32313136H porch and even referred him to several neighbors that all used him for various H3333313132**32313136H work. I was really hoping that he would fix our issues with the cracks. Especially the blistering crack right in front of our door. I&#**;m very unhappy with his lack of follow up on this issue.

      Dear ******************,

Although we understand your frustration, please take into consideration that all concrete will crack at some point. This is normal and can happen during the hardening and curing process after the project is completed, or they can appear within a month or two afterwards. While it is an annoyance to us and you, shrinkage cracks are a common occurrence in many concrete projects. Our company took the necessary and standard steps during the set-up, pour and finishing process to try to prevent both shrinkage cracks and substantial cracks from happening. The front porch was grooved just as we do all others, and a demo saw was not used as that does not prevent shrinkage cracks from appearing and is an unnecessary step for this specific project. It is in our contract under notes # 4 that our company will not be held responsible for any cracking of any kind. Out of courtesy and professionalism, the owner of the company did go to your property multiple times per your request to see the issue at hand. He did as well, determine that the cracking and chipping was due to shrinkage in the concrete. Unfortunately, there is nothing further we can do, as we completed your project as per concrete standards, specs and our contract.

It is our company goal to provide great communication and quality work to all our customers and we feel as though we did both in this circumstance. We apologize if you feel as though this was not the case with your project.

      Thank you for your feedback,

I am rejecting this response because:
I was told or text repeatedly that the problem would be resolved . He would never follow up even when he told us what day he was coming by .  The cracks came 2 1/2 week after it was poured . The crack right in front of the door is a blistering crack with pieces 1",1/2 , 1/4' wide ready to pop out . I don't believe he would accept this at his house .  He even said It made him sick when he looked at it ,The one time he came.

      Sincerely,

We can understand your frustration. The owner did remain in contact with you and he went to your residence multiple times to see the issue with your project. You have confirmed this to be true with the statements made in your responses to this claim. The project was done to industry standards and unfortunately, a repair would only make it look worse and stand out more in this case. As per the contract you signed, our company is not responsible for any cracking of any kind. Just like our initial response, concrete can crack soon after the curing process or it can take weeks or months later to come to surface. You stated the cracks appeared 2.5 weeks later and unfortunately this is very common and unpredictable. Any company in this case, if honest with you, would explain that to be true which is why we have the clause in our contract that we do. We remain very upfront with our customers regarding the possibilities that *** occur during all steps of the project. For us to repair or replace your porch because of cracking, we would be breaking our own terms in our contract that you signed. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist you in this matter. We wish you all the best moving forward.
