I had work done at Lakeview Dental after being told by Lakeview they took my dental insurance-******. They were on my approved dental list given to me by my insurance carrier. There were no issues and I was told nothing different in 12/2021 or January 2022 when I had the work completed. After completion, I was told they did not accept my dental plan and would be required to pay for the work provided. I could not afford out of network dental work. Nor would I have went to an out of network provider. I had not heard anything for a while then received a bill. I now have been turned over to a bill collector. My insurance provider claimed they should have accepted my insurance.

Although I do feel this is an unfortunate situation, Ms. *******'s complaint should be with her insurance company, not our office. At the time of treatment we were in-network providers with ****** and did our due diligence in contacting ****** to get Ms. *******'s benefits prior to any treatment. We were informed by "Elise" of what Ms. *******'s benefits were, and after treatment we filed claims with ****** as required for payment. ****** denied these claims. After receiving the denials we reached out to Ms. ******* via at least 2 phone calls and 4 statements which included two letters requesting her response. Ms. ******* was aware of our office policies on insurance and unpaid accounts (which she signed), and still she did not reply to our request to contact us regarding her account. This left us no option but to forward her account to our collection company to be resolved.

I have attached several documents from Ms. *******'s chart that I feel may be helpful. We have others, but the system only allows five. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
The business even said I was in network. If I was in network, I should not be responsible for paying what they are saying I owe. I do not understand why I'm being charged that amount. We were on a three way call, myself, ******, and Lakeview Dental and the confusion was with the type of insurance. Lakeview Dental claimed I had an HMO.  and they wouldn't accept an HMO. I've never had a HMO. I was a DHL. My insurance kept trying to explain that to the Dental Company and explain that is why it should be covered but the Dental Company ended up hanging up. ***** advised she would call them and explain it again. Lakeview Dental then sent a bill some time later with the charges. I am currently trying to find the specific dates of the calls. Again, Lakeview Dental even admits to telling me my insurance was accepted when I went there. I wouldn't have had work done if I wouldn't have known they would charge me that amount.

      Sincerely,

      **** *******

Again, as we have already established, according to ***** at ******, we were in-network providers at the time of treatment. This is why Ms. *******'s complaint should be with her insurance company. We filed claims for the services rendered and her insurance company did not pay anything. THEY are the ones who said how much she owes, not us. Please see the attached EOBs (Explanation on Benefits) from her insurance company. If Ms. ******* disagrees with what her insurance company has told us, then she needs to contact them to make a correction, or request they send us a payment. There is nothing we can do from our end to get her insurance company to pay us. It is HER insurance company who is telling US that she owes the full amount.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

We have both established that the insurance has said the business accepted my insurance. I will again contact them. But, why isn’t the business going after them like they are me? Because it’s easier to go after a single mom who can’t afford to pay her bills and take care of her child on her own because she only has one income from the state of Missouri? Correct. How about taking on insurance instead of someone who can’t afford it? Instead, you want to take out my credit when I’m struggling to raise my child. I wouldn’t defraud on purpose, you said insurance said I was accepted. Get what they owe. A business can take them on easier than one single voice that no one seems to care about or listen to. Obviously.
      Sincerely,

      **** *******
