This company has withheld my deposit for no reason. They refused to do a walk through with me. I have an email that was sent to them that outlined everything and they approved. I installed a storm door and it was approved. Now they are trying to charge me for items that weren't wrong. Now he is trying to charge $200 to dispose the storm door that was approved by him to be installed.
I rented a duplex villa in Lake St. Louis, Missouri on March 1, 2016 from Timothy Properties owned by Helmet ***** and managed by *** *****. After the first couple of months I began to see the complacent behavior of this landlord which resulted in me keeping every email, phone log and documentation of any interaction. I moved out on February 25, 2021 to allow a few days to clean, ending the lease on February 28, 2021.
Mr. ***** violated Missouri requirement when he would not perform exit walk thru with me as required by Missouri and his lease. On March 22, I received a letter indicating he was holding my deposit and a list of charges and claimed I still owed him $350. I responded to each charge with reference of email documentation that relieved me of those charge responsibilities. Manager did not have any of these emails so I had to send copies to her 4 different times because she claimed she never received them. On March 24, I received another letter indicating he came up with more charges to include a charge of $1300 to repair interior. Some of these charges were simply fabricated to include a $500 charge for a glass door on tub that was never there during my residency. I obtained an attorney and Mr. ***** still refused to return my deposit. Mr. ***** and his manager were very difficult to work with. They would not answer phone calls, would not respond to emails, would not return calls, denied repairs and tried to imply that everything was the tenants responsibility, including rodent and pest control, minor repairs. This company has a terrible reputation in the community for cheating people, withholding deposits from just about every tenant and not maintaining his properties. I do not understand how Mr. ***** is allowed to continue to this type of business behavior. I left home in excellent condition, cleaner than it was when I moved in, and it was advertised the day after I moved out so clearly it was in move-in ready condition. I am seeking refund of full deposit of $1200.BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
