I have a 2016 ***** Malibu that I took to Hughes auto to get work done on it after an accident. Hughes gave me my car back with the check engine light on and told me to drive it for about a week and if it doesnt go off, bring it back. The check engine light never went off. I brought the car back to Hughes. Then Hughes told me that when they hook the car to the diagnostic, they couldnt figure out what the problem was that I should take it to a dealer. I spent $4373.31 to drive off Hughes lot with my check engine light still on. I took my car to *****************. Now ***************** is saying I need a new motor. ***************** advise me that Hughes might have messed the car up by test driving it and it was running hot. Now I have an $1800 bill with ***************** and I need a new motor. Could you contact me at your earliest convenience? My phone number is ************ thank you.Business response

It seems the letter states we received a letter previously; we received this letter on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Here is a copy of the repairs we have done on ******************' vehicle which was dropped off at our shop on October 23, 2023 and the vehicle was picked up on April 5, 2024. ******** said he was working with Progressive on this claim but Progressive denied paying for the claim.
We have left voicemails for ***************** Chevrolet and ****************** and they have not returned our calls. Enclosed is an estimate of the repairs and we do not feel it has anything to do with his check engine light being on and advised him to take it to a dealer as we are not a mechanical shop, only auto collision repair.
