I bought a 2011 Buick Lacrosse TXS in June of 2023. Four days later it broke down. Took it to Better Way Auto Repair on July 3, 2023. I paid 1500.00 of 3200.00 to fix the engine. The engine was bad. From July 3 to Sept. 2023. I took it back in Dec to the present when he has not returned the car. He says he is backed up. I feel he does not want to replace the engine. He keeps putting off returning my car.Initial Complaint

I have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra and it needed a motor put in it. I had my car towed to the shop on January 3. I paid him $77 to tell me what was wrong with my car. At the time he had 2 other cars in there so he could not look at my car that day. On January 20 he finally was able to look at my car. He told me I would need $7259 to put a new motor in my car. I paid him the money he requested in a cashiers check. After that he gave me an itemized list that showed me the engine needed a bunch of different parts on it. So then he called me and told me I needed to come and get my car and he told me I needed to give him $69 because the car had been sitting on his lot to get fixed. Even though it was sitting there because he wasn't able to get to it right away. I have receipts and estimates of all interactions I had with him. He charged me $2500 for labor. He went to a junkyard and put a used lawn motor in my car. My car is completely messed up. My car has been ruined by this man. My car had 53859 miles then I looked in the car now and the safety and the inspection stickers have been taken out and also the emissions. I paid him on January 25 and I have just received the car on February 3. I have been constantly needing jumps since I have done been business with him because of the used lawn mower battery he put in my car.Business response

We know ****'s uncle. Her car was previously at two dealers for 6 months. They would not touch the car. Another lady owned the car and repoed it. She bought it from the bank. Bank needed the estimate, which we provided and the bank paid us directly. Come to find out the dealers would not touch it because she was not the original owner. I told the customer about it needing a new motor and she said she did not care what it cost. The repair costs $7259. I was a couple of weeks out. We did the repair and the car ran like a new car. Her issue was that the battery was no good. I told her she needed one. I did not do the work for that or bill her for that.
